I smoked 1 1/2 packs a day at $4.50 per pack, so $47.25 per week. I vape between 15-20ml per week, so about $16 tops. Really depends on how much you vape. If a light smoker begins to vape heavily, they're probably break even or spend a little more.

Having said that, I have not saved anything since I started vaping because I'm always buying something.

Got mine in this week and messed around with them yesterday. I ordered two. First impression is not that great, but I do see potential for this.

First, the wires are a little brittle and kept breaking. I broke 5 wires trying to make the first atty. I contacted Drew on ECF and he said he checked the wires and found some of the 3ohm wires were breaking and said he'd send me some more. Second, one had a nice draw, but the other was very tight. There are two little pin holes on the cone for air flow. I took the smallest drill bit I could find and opened up one of the holes a little and now it's to airy. Third - not good flavor (probably the biggest complaint). I used both of them most of the day yesterday and the flavor is odd. Not sure if it's the wire or the wick, but it over powers the eliquid flaover and I don't like it. I may try washing the wick before using the next one. Fourth, the dripping hole could have been a little bigger. However, the hole does appear to be bigger than any of the regular drip tips that I have, so I can't really complain about it.

Bottom line - yes, I'm a little disappointed. However, I do think there is a lot of potential. If I can get some decent flavor and master making the coil it will be a different story. Certainly not ready to call this a FAIL or to give up on it.

Just a word about Vapor Talk. I just love all you guys. You have always been so supportive when I have had a question(s), words of encouragment and just plain good people who care about people. This forum is truly different from others I have visited. No fussing or just downright ugly. This is a place where people who care about vaping can come and enjoy and be informed at the same time. I just wish I could figure out all the little things about the setup that is used but I guess in a few more months that will come.

I have a passthrough that I purchased six months ago from Pure Smoker. It is not working and they are not supporting it anymore. Does anyone know who makes a quality passthrough? I see one at Vaprlife. I would like to see some others, if there are any that are of quality. Thanks

A Pass-Through (PT) is an ecig that you plug into a USB port or USB wall adapter. No battery needed. That has changed a little lately as some PTs are now batteries that you can charge while vaping. Pass Throughs that are not batteries generally give higher voltage (depending on the power source - usually 5 volts).

What a great gift you got for him!! A variety of juices would probably be a big bonus for him - even if most of them are tobacco flavors. A lot of the fun of vaping is trying different flavors.

My advice would be to tell him to take long, slow drags...to fill his mouth with vapor before inhaling. Also, tell him not to give up if he feels like it isn't working. The best thing to do is to give it a chance. Even if he still smokes for awhile, every cigarette he doesn't have is a good thing. If every time he wants a cigarette he'll vape first, he might cut down on a lot of the cigarettes. If after vaping for awhile he still wants a cigarette, he can have one. That alone might help him not be anxious about it. If he just relaxes and gives the eGo a try, he'll soon be vaping more than he is smoking without working too hard at it and would probably completely replace the cigarettes with the eGo. He doesn't have to push himself at all. And he might even find (like I did) that he loves vaping more than smoking and he'll make the switch quickly. But he needs to know that he doesn't have to.

I smoked for 34 years and didn't have any problems whatsoever switching over...some people have taken longer. But from what I've seen, most people do eventually make the switch. There are quite a few of us here that have smoked for more than 20 years, so he would be in good company if he'd join the forum. We'll give him all the encouragement he could ever ask for. Let him know that we all wish him the best of luck and would love to have him here.

That's a great gift and if you can get him to stick with it he will thank you for it in no time.
If he's anything like I was at first then all the "work" of filling carts or cartos will seem like a pain in the butt for him. After all..it's so much easier to just pull out a cig and a lighter and start smoking.
So my first suggestion to you would be to either offer to fill up his cartos for him or just have several ready to go right off the bat.
Also see about getting his some sort of small pouch or case for his eGo and juice/carts. I don't think about it much anymore, but at first having all that stuff in my pockets just seemed like such a waste.
But I guess the most important thing to do is remind him how much better he'll feel and how much you're doing this to keep him around longer.
After he gets into the use of it and finds the enjoyment and health benefits like the rest of us he will be on his way and thank you for your concern.
Just remember we are all here to help. Have him join in and ask questions and maybe together we can all get him vaping and having an analog free life.

I purchased 4 of these to try out, and I'm not impressed. It looks like they were trying to offset the center tube hole so that you could more easily drip down the middle to refresh your carto(although that may just be an inconsistency in production).

They hold a lot of juice, but the couple I've tried all have a real funny taste to them. From what I've read, the vendor is saying that is because there isn't enough juice in them. I've filled these things to the brim, and all I've ended up with was wasted juice and a silly taste. I think I'll stick with my BOGE soft tips.

Hi JJM - I'm in Canada too and also worried about customs. Taking a deep breath - I ordered from US suppliers and to date parcels arrived within less than 10 days - all stamped in and out of customs the same day. I have purchased nic liquid for DIY and several mixed and the ego. Depending on how many analogs you smoke each day - no nic might be a challenge. I smoked at least 1 1/2 packs a day and started at 16 and am now down to 8; others start higher. Oh - and most paid for shipping is $15 and some shipped free depending on size of order. Of course, I will agree with Dayvape here...only thing, you may have some problems with low resistance on just a standard 510 battery. The battery life is fairly short to begin with, and supporting LR on something of that size may give you problems. I personally have tried it on my 510 batteries, and remember getting about a 30 min battery life with the LR BOGE 2.0 ohm cartos. Other than battery life, I'm not sure if there are any other negative aspects to using a lr atty or carto on a 510 due to the way it drains the battery, so hopefully someone with a little more knowledge on that can chime in. Hope this helps, and congrats on your new kit!

You know this is a very good question. I can tell you right now, if the day comes and it just might, I will release every bit of information that I have on electronic cigarettes and e Liquid. That includes contacts to order direct from the factories, overstock sources in China and the most effective shipping methods. This should provide enough stock for everyone to survive for quite a while. But of course it's not the ultimate answer.

Following a drop in supply (if it's banned on a large scale there will be no reason for the factories to produce product) I have no doubt the market will go underground. At the moment people sort of look at the government like Mom and Dad. But what happens when Mom and Dad become abusive drug addicts? You grow up, move out and you say F' em.

While the thought of people mixing their own nicotine makes me shudder, you're all adults. Vapor Talk is a platform for information. If legally or financially we're shut down another site will pop up. And like a weed in a garden for every one you kill 2 more pop up. I've said this before, I create the stage but you put on the show. Ultimately, if the people want something, bad enough, they'll get it. It's the American way. Once the boiler has been lit, there is no telling the amount of power it will produce.

heck, if Wikileaks can continue to operate, I'm pretty sure a bunch of Vapers can congregate with very little issue. Some DIY'ers have mastered e liquid mixing to a science (and of course others...not so much) but regardless the information is shared. I say stop asking, start taking.

With all that said however, I don't see a ban in the immediate future, perhaps heavy regulation but in some way, ecigs are here to stay.

And since taste is subjective, they can't allow people to return eliquid just because they don't like it (they would probably get lots of returns). I would recommend going forward that you always try smaller bottles first until you know if you like it. Again, taste is subjective so even if you see a good review on eliquid, that doesn't mean you'll like it. I've had tons of eliquid that I didn't like and it's piled up in a box. I gave away a lot of it here on the forum, and still have quite a bit left. You could put it up for sale (or trade) in the classifieds.

In your case, where you ordered menthol but don't taste any menthol, I see no harm in contacting Jeffrey and letting him know you're disappointed with the taste. I don't know if he'll do anything for you, but no harm in asking.

The main difference between the 510 kit and the eGo is battery life. The standard 510 batteries will last 1-2 hours between charges (unless you're a very light vaper). The eGo batteries are bigger than the standard batteries and will last around 8 hours (most report 8+ hours). The eGo also uses the 510 attomizer so performance is similar. Also, if you're looking for better throat hit, you can use an LR atty on the eGo, but not on the regular batteries. The LR (Low Resistance) atty heat up faster and will give you more vapor and throat hit. It's designed to simulate vaping at higher voltages without having to buy a more expensive 5V device.

I would definitively check into getting a drip tip and try direct dripping (vid link below). Personally, I was never able to get good performance using carts. The eliquid would just stay in the cart. More often than not I was having to remove the cart and add 3-4 drops to it after every 5-6 drags, which is basically direct dripping. You don't have to have a drip tip to direct drip, but it helps.

What is Direct Dripping


It takes about 20 drops of eliquid to make 1 ml. Everyone vapes differently and uses different amounts of eliquid per week. I'm using about 15-20ml per week. Once you get started and see how much you use, you'll have a better idea how much you need to keep on hand.

Do you know what nic strength your carts are? What nic strength juice did you buy? I smoked about 1 1/2 packs of Marlboro Lights per day and I vape 24mg. If you don't feel like you're getting enough nic, you may want to step up a little.

Not to sound too preachy but it seems when people feared God and knew he was watching and they would have to answer for what they do we were a little more civilised society.Im. just sayin.

HIGH SCHOOL
1957 vs. 2010

Scenario 1:
Jack goes quail hunting before school and then pulls into the school parking lot with his shotgun in his truck's gun rack.
1957 - Vice Principal comes over, looks at Jack's shotgun, goes to his car and gets his shotgun to show Jack.
2010 - School goes into lock down, FBI called, Jack hauled off to jail and never sees his truck or gun again. Counselors called in for traumatized students and teachers.

Scenario 2:
Buster and Dale get into a fist fight after school.
1957 - Crowd gathers. Buster wins. Buster and Dale shake hands and end up buddies.
2010 - Police called and SWAT team arrives -- they arrest both Buster and Dale. They are both charged them with assault and both expelled even though Buster started it.

Scenario 3:
Jeffrey will not be still in class, he disrupts other students.
1957 - Jeffrey sent to the Principal's office and given a good paddling by the principal. He then returns to class, sits still and does not disrupt class again.
2010 - Jeffrey is given huge doses of Ritalin. He becomes a zombie. He is then tested for ADD. The family gets extra money (SSI) from the government because Jeffrey has a disability.

Scenario 4:
Billy breaks a window in his neighbor's car and his Dad gives him a whipping with his belt.
1957 - Billy is more careful next time, grows up normal, goes to college and becomes a successful businessman.
2010 - Billy's dad is arrested for child abuse. Billy is removed to foster care and joins a gang. The state psychologist is told by Billy's sister that she remembers being abused herself and their dad goes to prison. Billy's mom has an affair with the psychologist.

Scenario 5:
Mark gets a headache and takes some aspirin to school..
1957- Mark shares his aspirin with the Principal out on the smoking dock
2010- The police are called and Mark is expelled from school for drug violations. His car is then searched for drugs and weapons.

Scenario 6:
Pedro fails high school English.
1957- Pedro goes to summer school, passes English and goes to college.
2010- Pedro's cause is taken up by state. Newspaper articles appear nationally explaining that teaching English as a requirement for graduation is racist. ACLU files class action lawsuit against the state school system and Pedro's
English teacher. English is then banned from core curriculum. Pedro is given his diploma anyway but ends up mowing lawns for a living because he cannot speak English.

Scenario 7:
Johnny takes apart leftover firecrackers from the Fourth of July, puts them in a model airplane paint bottle and blows up a red ant bed.
1957 - Ants die.
2010 - ATF, Homeland Security and the FBI are all called. Johnny is charged with domestic terrorism. The FBI investigates his parents -- and all siblings are removed from their home and all computers are confiscated. Johnny's dad is placed on a terror watch list and is never allowed to fly again.

Scenario 8:
Johnny falls while running during recess and scrapes his knee He is found crying by his teacher, Mary. Mary hugs him to comfort him.
1957 - In a short time, Johnny feels better and goes on playing.
2010 - Mary is accused of being a sexual predator and loses her job. She faces 3 years in State Prison. Johnny undergoes 5 years of therapy.
