Welcome to Vapor Talk. Sorry, but I have to throw my 2cents worth in here and agree with BirdDog. If you don't smoke or have never been addicted to the evil nicotine, there is really no reason to start vaping.
This is just not a smart move. Those of us on here have all been smokers for many years and are doing this as an alternative to our habit of so long a time. This really isn't something just to play with.
Keep your lungs clean and enjoy other ways to get flavor like fruits or a good bottle of wine. The habit of smoking or vaping is not something we want to encourage to people that have never done so.
If you are serious about starting and are hell-bent on vaping then I will have to pass you on to someone else because I just can't suggest anything that will get you started.
I hope that you will seriously re-think this out and consider other means of enjoyment.
    Good luck on your decision.

Welcome to VT. Can't say I've ever heard of those..but my gut feeling is that if they are really cheap then they probably wont last very long and you wont be getting the true experience of vaping. My suggestion....save that money and put it towards a good and dependable e-cig that will give you the kind of vaping that will really be more to your liking.
Sometimes the saying really is true....you get what you pay for.....so if you're serious about getting an e-cig check into buying one that is worth the extra couple of dollars and really enjoy vaping. Just my 2c worth.

    Good luck and happy vaping.

Good job Hodge.....I've had a couple of turnovers lately too.
The best one so far is the owner of the Chinese carry-out near my house. I went in vaping away and his daughter asked me about it. Said her dad should get one since he's always telling her to not tell her mom he's smoking. So I left them some cards...gave them the VT website and told him to check it out.
Went in there the other day and asked the girl behind the counter if he was still smoking. She said no he's got this funny looking thing now.
The guy comes from the back and he's got an Ego behind his ear...lol He's all smiles...thanking me for turning him onto vaping and then tells her I get the employee discount.
So....he's happy...I'm happy (good discount too) and so is his daughter....not bad!

p.s. his favorite flavor...chocojava another happy VTcustomer.

Yea this is a pretty damn good place to hang out. You'll find that most of the members are really helpful and friendly. They just want to have a nice place to site and interact with other vapers without all the BS that comes from people trying to elevate themselves above the rest. Here we all have a little something to add even if it's just a little humor from time to time.
I don't think anyone takes themselves to seriously and just try to give back what we have all gotten out of this forum. Friendship....information.. concern.....and a great time.
Glad you have joined our little community and hope it will be your home forum too.
So sit back...relax...enjoy the show....and don't hesitate to ask questions or add your own information when you can.

Well it's coming to the end of another year. A time when we try to get together with relatives and loved ones. .
It's hard to believe that I've been on this forum for over a year now. I've made a lot of new friends, met a lot of new and interesting people.
Most of them great...and a few that were not so great, but those that were not have come and gone.
We have a very close kind of family feeling in the forum that isn't found in any of the others I've checked out. That's one of the reasons for me staying and I'm sure why a lot of others stay also. We don't bicker or fight like so many of the others do. We respect each other and each others opinions. We help out newbies and answer every question even if it's been asked a dozen times before. There's no name calling like I've noticed other places and we seem to genuinely like each other, even if we disagree.
Chris and the staff go out of their way to make this forum something we can enjoy and their efforts are greatly appreciated.
ECF may have more members, but they certainly don't have the caring and devotion that the staff and members of this forum displays.
I guess what I'm really trying to say in all this is Thank You. Thank you to Chris and each and every one of you for making this past year a fun and pleasant time.
And I hope this holiday finds you well and in great spirits.

So to each and every one of you a very Merry Christmas....Happy Holidays....and a Happy New Year.

Our resident "mixologist" Kitsune is away in Hawaii, but I'm sure she'll look in soon and help you some.
The first thing you should look into is flavors. Several vendors have some great stuff.

DiyFlavorshack.com is one. Also Perfumers Apprentice.com
Lorann's has candy flavorings that you can use also..only make sure they are not the oils and say they are water soluble.
You will also need some nic liquid. There are several places that carry that also. You will just have to pick a nic level that you want.
Look under DIY one the vendor sites for nic liquid.
Also...there is a real easy to follow e-juice calculator on here that will work great if you don't want to get too fancy.
Should work out good for just starting out. Look for "Todd Mueller" I think that's how it's spelled. Really simplifies the mixing.
Just remember to start out with small batches and weak flavor.
If it's not strong enough you can always add more flavor.
Almost forgot...you may want to pick up some VG liquid. The vendors for the nic and flavors carry that also.
Or you can get it at most drug stores. Just make sure it says USP on the label. Should be with the band-aids and lotions.
Get yourself some small 3-5 mill empty bottles and start out simple. I know Perfumers Apprentice has them pretty cheap.
It's really just a matter of trial and error. Like I said, start out small and don't over do it with flavor. Just a few drop at a time till you get it where you want it.
Oh forgot....Totally Wicked also has flavors and pg/vg for mixing and a video about it.
Just do some research and get a small amount to begin with till you get the hang of it. Don't get too much to start out with.
I think in time you will have it down pat and enjoying your own mixes

Well until Kitsune gets in touch with ya that's about all I can tell ya. Hope this helped some.

    Good luck and happy vaping.

That's a great gift and if you can get him to stick with it he will thank you for it in no time.
If he's anything like I was at first then all the "work" of filling carts or cartos will seem like a pain in the butt for him. After all..it's so much easier to just pull out a cig and a lighter and start smoking.
So my first suggestion to you would be to either offer to fill up his cartos for him or just have several ready to go right off the bat.
Also see about getting his some sort of small pouch or case for his eGo and juice/carts. I don't think about it much anymore, but at first having all that stuff in my pockets just seemed like such a waste.
But I guess the most important thing to do is remind him how much better he'll feel and how much you're doing this to keep him around longer.
After he gets into the use of it and finds the enjoyment and health benefits like the rest of us he will be on his way and thank you for your concern.
Just remember we are all here to help. Have him join in and ask questions and maybe together we can all get him vaping and having an analog free life.

    Good luck and happy vaping.

p.s. also try a few different types of juice...he might like something different, never know.

This is funny...because I thought I was the only one who has had a close call like this.
Once while standing in the restroom at the mall I put my eGo in my mouth and I have a bad habit of leaning into the wall with my head to kinda brace myself.
My device came off the mouthpiece and fell hitting MY unit in mid shake where it flew up and I was able to catch it with my other hand. Both funny and scary at the same time.

p.s. now that I think about it...this is a strange topic

If you get extra 510 atty's and some cartomizers, they will work on the eGo when you get around to ordering one. But until then you will still want to have some back-ups for your 510.
There's nothing wrong with the 510 or the 520 other than the fact that the battery life is short and you have to keep recharging so often. They are a fine little device and will serve well until you're ready to move on to bigger and better things. And then they will be great little back-ups also. If your kit comes with 2 complete units then that should hold you for now as far as batteries go until you see how it is working out for you. Then later if you decide to keep using it I would suggest getting a few extra batteries.

Congrats on making through to this point. Many people have started vaping and never picked up another cigarette since day one. As for me, it's been a battle. I started two years ago at Christmas time and fought with it for over a year. In fact I went back to smoking after only a few months with my first PV. It was one of those mall kiosk types and really didn't work well at giving me what I needed. Then this past January I started again in earnest and haven't had a real analog in 325 days. That's not to say that I haven't had serious cravings, I have, and still do from time to time. But now I just tell myself that I've gone this long without one, and I start vaping a little harder, and the craving goes away and I'm just left enjoying the vape.
The biggest thing for you is to not force yourself. If you need to have an analog that's fine. It's not going to make things any worse and in time you'll find that you'd rather be vaping than smoking. And maybe for you those cravings will just go away like they have for so many others.
Smoking is a hard habit to stop. I know! After 40+ years for me to go this long without a cigarette is a real miracle. And will happen for you too.
Just don't beat yourself up over it. Let you and your body work this out and it WILL happen.

    Good luck and happy vaping.

Welcome to Vapor Talk. I think you'll be happy with your choice of the EGO. Many of us have them and they are a great unit. Fairly easy to use and the battery life is great.
I understand your concern about having nic juice around with the little one, but if you store it up where she can't reach it you should be ok. Besides, you'll also have to do the same with any carts, atty;s or cartomizers you may have.
If you go with standard carts you'll find that they need refilling quite often and this tends to be a bit of a pain. Direct dripping is good when you can, but not advisable when you're out driving. As far as at the bars or store and such I haven't had any one give me a lot of flack about bringing out my bottle of juice and adding a few drops. In fact I usually get the question of what the heck is that and what are you doing? Sometimes it's a great conversation starter.
Unless you're going to use the Kr808D pre-filled cartomizers with your ego you wont need an adapter to use the unit with 510 atty's and cartomizers.
I would suggest you try the regular and the LR(low resistance) cartomizers for the ease of not having to drip all the time. They hold a lot of juice and you can refill them several times.
You can fill several with different flavors, put the rubber covers back on and take them with you. They're really nice.
Well that's what I've go for now. If you have more questions don't hesitate to ask...we're all here to help.

Brian and nana are both right...they are a mass product and being an electrical part are subject to inconsistencies. I've had LR atty's last for almost a month and a couple that only lasted 10 mins. There's just no way of knowing. And although regular atty's are "OK" they just don't deliver the same punch.
I would also suggest to you, since you have an Ego, to look into the LR cartomizers. The 2.0 ones I'm using now are great. Good vapor and throat hit, plus the added bonus of not having to drip all day or while I'm driving.
They take a little getting use to, but once you do it really works nice. But like the atty's there's no telling just how long they will last. But I've got one now that is on it's second week and still kicking strong.
So look around and do some research and ask more questions....that's what this forum is all about.

I think you'll find that most of us vape a lot more than we ever smoked. I believe that it's partly because we can without the trouble of going outside or finding a place to smoke.
Also because it's just plain enjoyable compared to what smoking was....a habit.
I think some of the sore throat may be from the PG/VG in the mix. They tend to dry out your throat some and you really need to keep drinking something while you vape.
And like you said, some may be from allergies. So keep mindful of the situation and if it persists you may want to see a doctor and have it checked.
    Either way....enjoy!

I know this is a lot of information, but I hope it helps those looking at trying their hand at DIY. Keep in mind, This is just my own experience.

PG- Propylene Glycol : It is a colorless, nearly odorless, clear, viscous liquid with a faintly sweet taste,
    http://en.wikipedia....ropylene_glycol
VG-Vegetable Glycerin(Glycerol): In foods and beverages, glycerol serves as a humectant, solvent and sweetener, and may
    help preserve foods. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glycerol

PG and/or VG are both used as the base of the E-Liquid.

PG/VG can be purchased from most E-Liquid suppliers with or without Nicotine. Unflavored PG or VG with Nicotine can be purchased for the purpose of mixing your own liquids and can be purchased is many strengths.
PG/VG without Nicotine is necessary for mixing your own liquids.

Glycerin can also be purchased from most pharmacies-over the counter. Humco is one brand of Pharmacy Grade (USP) glycerin. It is sold as a skin protectant. It is a clear, slightly thick liquid and has a sweet taste to it.
There is also a Food grade VG- Wiltons- sold at Craft stores in the baking sections. Can sometimes be found at Walmart in the craft section.

The information will have to be put into a couple posts--The server doesn't like the long version....
