... I picked up my first e-cigarette. It was an eGo 650 mAh topped off with a CE4 that was quickly replaced the next week with a T2 (short wick) that had just come out. Four days after that, I gave up the analogs altogether. Fast forward six months and I discovered Vapor Talk. The friendly and knowledgeable folks here helped my new found obsession grow. More friendly folks also worked hard to help me spend my money on new shiny things.
With all the support and fun on Vapor Talk, four years have passed. I want to thank you all for making the journey so much fun!

But, even 0 nic flavors are mentioned in the deeming regs and must be registered. They must be labeled as "Tobacco Products" even though there is no tobacco in them or any part of it derived from the tobacco plant. Even bottles used for the storage of |E-Liquid" are covered in these regs.

I was just sent this in my Email:
Following up on your petition on the tobacco regulations:
A few months back, we sent an initial response to a petition you signed on the tobacco deeming regulations. At the time, the rule in question was still under interagency review. But now, there's more to say.
Last week, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration finalized a rule extending its authority to all tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, cigars, hookah tobacco, and pipe tobacco, among others.
This rule will allow the FDA to improve public health and protect future generations from the dangers of tobacco use through a variety of steps, including restricting the sale of these tobacco products to minors nationwide.
Tobacco use poses a significant threat to public health and is the leading cause of preventable deaths in the U.S. today. While there has been a major decline in the use of traditional cigarettes among youth over the past decade, their use of other tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, continues to climb.
In 2015, 3 million middle and high school students were using e-cigarettes.
Prior to FDA’s actions this week, there was a big difference between the rules for the makers of traditional tobacco cigarettes and the rules for these new products.
If you were to purchase a traditional cigarette today, you would be warned about the health risks. You'd also be over the age of 18, because it is illegal to sell cigarettes to minors. These safeguards have greatly contributed to the decline in smoking. But the newer tobacco products haven't had these same safeguards in place.
The new regulations are aimed at making sure all tobacco manufacturers and retailers follow the same rules -- rules to protect children and make sure everyone can make informed decisions about their own health and the products they purchase.
So what do the new provisions say? For starters:
Stores will not be allowed to sell e-cigarettes, cigars, and hookah tobacco to people under 18 years of age. All sales to those 26 and under will require a photo ID -- just like needing an ID for cigarettes. Manufacturers will be required to place health warnings on product packages and ads. You can read more about the new regulations and what this means for manufacturers, retailers, and our nation's health here.
These regulations mark a new chapter in the FDA's efforts to end preventable tobacco-related disease and death, ensure consumers can make informed decisions, and protect the health of America's youth from the dangers of tobacco.
Thanks again for raising your voice on this issue.

Petitions are okay, but most end up going no where. Please see the link above and support the HR 2058 bill. This is all we have right now.

When you consider DIY components, the nicotine would be the only one that may be effected by this ruling. They can not regulate me buying Lorrans in Walmart for example. Or ordering flavorings over the internet. This would be the same for VG, PG, wire... These are all used for more than just E-Cigarettes. How would they regulate me buying wood..? or an aluminum project box from Mouser... Switches..?  There will be a lot of people going back to the day when we built our own mods. The electronic boards would be sold out of stock and hard to get though.
This is why I only buy things that have the rebuildable head/coil...

4ml per 100ml of juice made... so 1500ml will make you 37.5 liters of juice.... 1500/4=375 100ml bottles or 37.5 liters (9.9gal) of juice
If you vape 30ml/week, that will keep you vaping for 1250 weeks, or 24 years, lol... 50ml/week is 750 weeks, or just shy of 14.5 years....
I just did the same math on my stockpile of Nicotine   I have enough to make 25L, and will be ordering another batch soon, so I can have enough to keep me and my SO in juice through 100L (25+ gal).... which should hopefully outlast these insane regulations, or until we give up the need for Nicotine?

The short answer is since you have no experience rebuilding coils, taking on the dual coil pro tank 3 will be a challenge.  You could rebuid them as single coils but don't xpect the same performance.

I personally would not choose silica wicking material.  Most people generally agree cotton tastes better and gives better performance.  You would still need a coil winding tool regardless of wick material.

If I were you, I would do a youtube search on rebuilding kanger pro tank coils so you can get an idea of what you are getting in to.  You may find a specific video on the pro tank 3.

    Start there

Notice his description is a 9 wrap 28ga coil on a 1.5mm rod.   He's doing single coils

You can do this with any 40 to 200watt rig and a .8 to .2 ohm build on a RDA or subtank using high VG e-liquid... take your pick.

Flux, if you bother to read any of the archived posts... you'll clearly see that we promote smoking cessation, quality equipment, safety with equipment, etc.... and don't really condone vaping just to do "tricks" or blow huge clouds... Cloud chasing (or tricks) in the privacy of your own home is up to you, but far too frequently cloud chasing in public places (even parties) is all the media and anti-vaping groups focus on.  It casts a bad light on the vaping community (all because of a small percentage of vapers), and fuels the political drive for regulation, prohibition, taxation, and reduction of our freedoms in the name of "public health and safety".
Furthermore... there is no ONE RIG which will be the end-all-be-all for doing tricks.  Is there only one car for "doing donuts"?  Is there only one motorcycle for "popping wheelies"?  Is there only one microwave for reheating your soup????  Far too often we see the trolls who pop onto the board and ask these same questions on their first post... never to hear from them again, so you see our reluctance to assist or even make a suggestion...  YOU have to participate and let us know more than "I want to make jellyfish, tell me what to buy".  You may as well say "I want to scuba-dive, so tell me which regulator, mask, tank, and flippers are the best for me....

Any PG you add will make it thinner. It will also thin out the favoring some. Even though it is the flavor carrier, it with dilute the flavor. Try taking a pin and poke some holes into the area the juice goes into the coil head. I have heard that it works in some cases to help a thicker juice flow better to the coil.
I have not ever seen VG juice so thick that it wouldn't draw up into a dropper. Not saying it is not happening, just saying I have not seen it. I have found that some flavorings can cause it (VG) to jell though.

Having a clear image would help, but from what I see, what you have is direct sort of every coil.
Facing coil looks to be hooked to both top Pos (+) terminals
Right side coil is hooked to both bottom Neg (-) termanals
Left side coil is hooked into the Pos (+) at the top on the screw and the bottom is hooked to the Neg (-) pole? I can not tell for sure.
The coil in the back I can't tell how it is hooked in.
Each coil needs a Pos (+) and Neg (-) connection to complete the circuit. With out that, or doing it with one and not the rest is a broken circuit and Direct sort circuit and if it were not a regulated Mod, a face bomb.

Yes I did change the juice, that didn't help. So I looked at the coil, it was touching the side, I moved it just enough that it didn't touch any more and it stopped the popping.  It was brand new and came that way. Will start checking any new ones I get before I use them.

"Though the explosion occurred during a cloud competition, the mod that blew up was not owned by any of the competitors in the contest."

"the rest of the evening was hushed and subdued as conversations focused on the importance of safety"

"(added 08/20/14) A NOTE FROM THE SHOW ORGANIZER: Please note that as a precaution; we, the event organizers decided to cancel the second cloud comp that was scheduled for Sunday. In light of what happened on Saturday, we used the time to have a battery safety class. It was very well received and I believe better attention was paid due to the events of Saturday evening. The entire rest of the day’s give aways focused on encouraging people to ditch bad/unsafe batteries. Many exhibitors stepped up with valuable prizes for surrendering bad batteries."
    --------------------------------

Those that do this and ignore the safety precautions are not too bright, that I agree on. The ones that think this is toy for amusement are the ones that should think twice about those around them. This is why when new people come on the forum we emphasize safety! Most friends I have that do these competitions are extremely safety conscious. It is the few that don't do the home work and follow ohms law that blow their face off and can harm others around them.

I'm glad no one got hurt and hope this person learned a valuable lesson. Seems the people running the event were also doing the wise thing and teaching safety. Maybe what these events should have is a class in safety at every event, spot lighting things like this to show how dangerous it can be. Also add the old standby warning "This can be dangerous and should not be attempted without proper training."

The only reports I have seen about Texas are a some eGo's that blew when charging. Most were people charging them to long or not using the charger that came with the battery. Do you have a link? If so please post it.
