My GF is starting to Vape to Quit Smoking
cany and 3 others reacted to VapingBeginner for a topic
Thanks guys. I told her all of you guys advice and she is finding vaping much easier. She has now gone just over 1 month without smoking, so we are both really happy with her progress4 points -
To add to the idiocy -- let's just ignore all the years people have been vaping before this "crisis" came up and we're all healthier than we've ever been... but don't let facts get in your way. SMH3 points

The Independent published this article from a doctor. He is saying what we've known and is actually using common sense. I'm an American doctor. Here's the truth about Juul, vaping and legalizing marijuana https://www.independent.co.uk/voices/juul-ban-flavors-vaping-marijuana-legalize-a9161971.html3 points

I work with a girl who's SO became deathly ill "due to vaping". (When I questioned her, she admitted that it was black market THC her SO was vaping EXCLUSIVELY for a week, when she became ill and then CONTINUED TO VAPE THE STUFF!) Some of the other employees were blasting vaping on the spot because of this person's illness. So I posed the question, "ok, if vaping as a whole is responsible, why am I not ill or dead? I've been vaping for nearly 6 years." The room got totally silent. Then I explained, that I KNOW what's in my juice, because I make my own. What they NEED to be upset about is WHAT this person vaped and WHERE they got it, NOT with vaping as a whole. A few of the employees actually apologized, stating, if they had known that there was black market/tainted juice out there and that could have been the cause of the illness, they would have kept their mouths shut. I just reminded them there is always more to every situation than just what you hear/see on the surface, get the facts before you blow off steam.3 points

The latest CDC report 26 dead and 1200 ill. but then they say only 75% confirmed THC. so, what, the other 25% are liars?...... of course, I'm being facetious, I have no doubt that some of the deaths may have involved vapers with pre-existing health issues and were nowhere near THC. but I wouldn't be surprised if the numbers are fudged here. I just watched a news interview with a couple who's college age daughter got I'll "by vaping" - 5 minutes of the girl's parents professing the innocence of their sweet little girl and when the interviewer pressed further, "oh well, there was that one time when we caught her vaping THC but we believe her that she is not doing it now"......right..... I don't want it to seem like I have no sympathy for these people who are actually suffering from this. I do. It's a terrible tragedy. But the truth will set us free (get ti the bottom if this). Is that too much to ask?3 points

Hey Vapor Talkers, In an effort to keep spammers in check and to ensure new members take a few moments to get acquainted with Vapor Talk's features, all new members will be required to have 3 posts before being placed into the unrestricted 'VT Member" group. How does it work? What limitations will I have when I first join the forum? When first joining the forum you be limited to posting in these sub forums: Introduce Yourself New Vapers Forum Site Features, Requests and Help Vapor Talk Store Support Forum After 3 posts, you will automatically be moved into the standard user or "VT Member" group. Looking to get a Pod
cany and one other reacted to hungryvaper for a topic
I've used the Vaporesso Zero, which is actually the "Renova" Zero (just one of Vaporesso's brands). I think I've had 3 or 4 of them by now. I don't use one anymore but I used to appreciate how small they are. My qualm with them though was that they leaked somewhat often and it was annoying enough that I switched vapes. They might have improved it but it seemed to leak pretty frequently. They'd leak both in my mouth and inside the area where the pod connects to the device. I remember regularly pulling the pod and cleaning the connection area with a paper towel to keep it nice and clean, which is frankly not something I think you should ever need to do with a vape. As if regular leaks weren't enough, I purchased one Zero that had a defective battery where the opening to slip the pod in was too tight for the pod to fit properly and it would squeeze the pod, which seemed to spawn regular e-juice leaks - it was awful. Despite the problems I've had with the Zero, the worst pod vape I've probably used is the Juul. And the best one to date is probably the Vaporesso Xros, which is kind of surprising seeing as Vaporesso is also behind the Zero that I've come to despise lol. If you need a good reason to choose one vape over another, you might consider what I consider: can you buy it and replacement pods at your local smoke/vape shop? With both the Xros and the Zero I know I can always find pods at at least one of the local shops here so I'm stuck searching online and then waiting for my pods to arrive in the mail.2 points -

A Vision Spinner 2 is just the battery part (the lower part with the on/off button). The tank that holds the eliquid and screws in on top of that is what has a coil inside that will need periodic replacement, what you're calling a 'cart'. If you're using a pre-filled cart/tank, they come preinstalled with the coils inside and it does not need to be replaced. Not knowing exactly the type and style of 'cart' you're using, I can't give you more specifics than that but all the pre-filled units I'm familiar with, none of them have coils that can be replaced, they're all one piece. That said, I'm also not familiar with any all-in-one carts that are used with Vision Spinners, only tanks. Good for you to start vaping instead of smoking.2 points

I am the type of person that researches new things to death before I start them. I have the safety glasses and gloves were included in the supplies I ordered. Kids and pets won't be a problem. We don't presently have any pets and the kids are now adults living on their own. I haven't ordered any flavorings yet. I suspect that will be the hardest part. I'm not one that jumps form flavor to flavor. I usually find a flavor I like and stick with it for long periods. Unfortunately the flavor I'm on right now is pretty complex and making it would be difficult. It is a popular flavor so I'm searching for recipes for it.2 points

Amen!!! I'll say it again, Amen!!! We've been vaping for over a decade and this so called crisis pops up. Give me a break! The first thing I tell people who question or condemn my vaping is that 2.5 years ago my BP was 142/80. I had an inhaler. I was in the beginning stages of COPD/emphysema. I constantly wheezed. All that is gone. 118/72, moving more air than I have for the last 20 years. The next thing I ask them is if they don't think it is a little telling that this sickness just popped up in the last few months after better than a decade of vaping and note that the vast majority of cases have been traced back to adulterated e-juice and none traced back to a legitimate store. Just insane.2 points

My pleasure. Here is a link where DJlsb opens one up. You can see where the 510 is held underneath by a nut. That is probably loose. Unfortunately there is a good probability that the ground wire may have disconnected while the atty was spinning. You may have some soldering to do. You can watch how he puts it back together and get a feel for how much work might be involved.2 points

People believe they are way too busy and over stressed even though they can babble endlessly about Game of Thrones or Walking Dead and the like. If they don't vape, they are not going to dig. They will just parrot headlines. We lost the biggest battle by not getting in front of this. We knew it was coming. Now the anties have got their agenda well published which is effectively the rules of engagement. We got slapped with proving them wrong which is exactly opposite of rules of law. It is their burden to prove their accusations are correct.2 points

I read another article just today about a high school girl who became very ill after vaping. She at least admitted that she sometimes used THC cartridges... but it was only rarely. I'm with you, @Bebop. I, too, think the numbers are fudged, it's more likely to be something along the lines of 95% vaped THC and 5% were from other previous health issues. My numbers are much more likely, but that's just my opinion.2 points

When Michigan gets 2.1 billion dollars a year from the master tobacco settlement, sin taxes, and of course campaign donations while cigarette smoking is at it's lowest ever, the mystery becomes pretty clear. Add to that that Michigan issued bonds against anticipated master tobacco agreement income, and is, as always hurting for money. I'm not freaking out but I'm madder than a hornet. I've watched numerous "hearings" and they are paid political propaganda. Cherry picked panel members as well as politicians putting on a B rate movie. Hardly a thread of truth in the entire production. One panelist with a prefix Dr. called the U.K. Royal College of Physicians a couple doctors sitting around making unfounded decisions. The FDA is bumbling around obviously incapable of drafting even final guidelines. The CDC is obviously under pressure to support the political stance on vaping. Our president sites pillow talk as his decision to ban flavors. Insane!! Maniacally Insane!!! Mass media jumps in singing the same song. No wonder, every other commercial is from big pharma who has a vested interest in seeing vaping disappear. Tomorrow I have more nicotine and flavor concentrates coming in. Soon I will be set for the rest of my lifetime. In the big picture that does nothing for the countless people who will go back to analogs, the black market that will fill the void, the people who will never have the opportunity to try vaping. These decisions will kill. Good for the government as the average smoker dies 10 years sooner than the non smoker and will not be collecting social security or medicare. Leave it to the government. This time their taking a health crisis that was created by the black market and driving an industry deeper into that black market. And I'm sure the black market will do a better job of checking I.D.'s.2 points

Nice article, but my thoughts are it is a bit light on pointing fingers at what's/who's driving the vape persecution. I smoked 50 years, was introduced to vape and vaped 4+ years till I quit everything about 2 years ago. Even though I'm no longer an active participant in the vape community, this vilification of vapers/ing still has me pretty pissed. I understand the anguish and hurt around the sickness and deaths, but a knee jerk reaction to ban everything is just plain wrong. From everything I've read or heard, the culprit seems to be a new ingredient to the vape scene, a type of vitamin E. Which brings the question ..... how to successfully ban just one ingredient. Instead, the answer seems to just ban everything. That should make tobacco and pharma happy. Stupid!! If I were still vaping I would be stocking up on my fav flavors. Just in case.2 points

Forget the wattage. it's not important. whatever coil you put in, set the voltage at about 3.7 V. then vape it and adjust up from there. somewhere in there you will find a sweet spot. Make a note of the wattage (watts are a product of voltage accross the resistance (ohm)) whenever you use a different ohm coil, do the same thing. If your using the same coil, vape the wattage you found works. the higher the voltage (or wattage - same difference) the more you will shorten coil life. So if you want longer life, be conservative in your power settings. A brand new coil will take higher power for a while. But you are likely to burn it out faster. there is always a trade off. I usually vape any coil I make at 3.9 - 4.2 volts and let the wattage fall where it may. (I get long coil life - 2 to 4 weeks). You can't adjust voltage and wattage separately. they are tied together. When you "raise the wattage" you are really just increasing the voltage across the coil. Raise the voltage and the watts goes up. lower the voltage and the watts go down. Its fine to remember the wattage and use that number to set your mod as manufacturers seem to realize that people focus in the wattage. But it's really the voltage you are changing. It's like a car. The speedometer doesnt make the car go. You dont "raise the speedometer", (wattage), you give it more gas (voltage).2 points

There's simply no better RDA on the market. The Profile is miles above anything else out there. Best flavor, vapor production, ease of use, ramp up time, etc. I'm a huge fan of the Goon v1, but the Profile makes the Goon seem anemic. BTW - OFRF nexMESH strips make the Profile even better.2 points -

The ones I had did have air holes in the very bottom, but I guess different brands have different designs. I tried cleaning the ones I had with rubbing alcohol, and it did help for awhile, but went bad again. About the only thing you can do is get a different setup that uses a fire button instead of depending on air flow to fire it. Don't know about the one you have, but mine had a hole through the middle of the contact pin for the air to flow, that's how juice got into the electronics.2 points

Pretty simple and good for summer: 3 mils Srawberry ripe TFA 1 mil dragonfruit TFA 1mil raspberry loranne 1 mil cranberry capella 1 mil sweetener I like it at 70/30. It could be good 60/40. My husband is a picky vaper and loves it, also good if you swap the percentages on strawberry ripe and cranberry. It is something you can tinker alot or a little with. That is for a 30 mil bottle.2 points -
