  1. OB or popcorn lung is considered a occupational disease. It is believed to be caused by high concentrations of diacetyl found only in processing plants where it it used and made. "Pneumoconiosis is one of a group of interstitial lung disease caused by breathing in certain kinds of dust particles that damage your lungs. Because you are likely to encounter these dusts only in the workplace, pneumoconiosis is called an occupational lung disease. Pneumoconiosis usually take years to develop. Because your lungs can't get rid of all these dust particles, they cause inflammation in your lungs that can eventually lead to scar tissue. The disease appears in different forms, depending on the type of dust you inhale. One of the most common forms is black lung disease, also known as miner's lung. It’s caused by breathing in coal dust. Another is brown lung, which comes from working around dust from cotton or other fibers. Other types of dusts that can cause pneumoconiosis include silica and asbestos. Diacetyl, the compound used to give movie popcorn its buttery flavor, also can lead to the disease. This is known as popcorn lung. " http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/healthlibrary/conditions/respiratory_disorders/pneumoconiosis_134,162/
  2. thanks for the link. regards, mike
  3. i have found all of these so called free trials are a gimmick. even the so called free,or complimentary ones. they are all trials. the trail starts the minute you complete your order. most ship to you by snail mail so you will receive them 5-7 days into the typical 10 day trial. after the trial they'll send you typically a five pack of refills every month for about 20 dollars and charge your credit card. if you cancel that they will charge your card 3 times the local retail value of the kit. 100-150 dollars. check for they're terms and conditions section,at least they clearly spell that out there. regards mike
  4. hello cjthomas, mike here on the groovy eastside of saint paul.
  5. the cheap ce4's like stated above are one shot deals. but you can get the rebuild-able ones. the best way to clean the one shots is remove the drip tip and drain off all the juice you can. run hot water straight in to the container and rinse out as much juice as you can. let them sit upside down for a day or two. they will never completely dry and there may be some old juice in the wicks but, this should unclog them enough to be usable. needless to say it doesn't work well for switching flavors. you can do this till the coil gets burned out or the wicks get to bad to be useful. regards mike
  6. to clean my ce4's and 5's i rinse under hot water to clean out the juice. shake or blow off excess water. i then place them in a small tupurware like container and swoosh them around in a shallow 50/50 solution of iso.. let soak for 5 to 10 minutes. shake a or blow off excess solution and squeeze the wicks. set in front of a fan and the"re dry in less than an hour. iso evaporates a lot faster than water. burn in the coils, assemble, and away you go. residue if any left by the iso is so small it cant possibly hurt you. regards mike
  7. started with v2's which i still use as they are very discrete. i fill the carts myself. have 2 regular auto batts plus 2 360 mah push buttons from myvaporstore. have added a generic ego 600 mah starter kit using a ce4,and back up generic 600mah batt and ce4 tanks. latest additions are a ego c and t passthrough with iclear ce5 tanks. the last being the best set up so far. regards mike
  8. update: i returned the one i received this Wednesday. i got return numbers for the other 2 that have'nt arrived yet. 1 is due tomorrow according to the tracking number.7 days into the trail. the other said 3-5 business days.no idea when it will arrive. if it was'nt for that bad charger in the first kit i would have been clueless. regards mike
  9. moderators,i've posted this in the new user section in all the 4 forums i'm regestered at. please feel free to modify, remove,or move to a different forum topic as you feel necassary. hi all, well there i went again. having recently recieved emails for free starter kits i went and ordered 3.the sight i went to had 4 or 5 offers from different compinies and said these are free kits, just pay the shipping. guess what. wait for it. scams all of them. liftvapor. ecigsbrand.com. ecigcustomerservice.com what they do is bill your card monthly for unwanted supplies after yor trail period. thets right trail. what happened to the free starter kits. there not free. i got the first kit today from liftvapors.i had an issue with the charger, the batts would'nt screw into it.wrong or damaged threading. so i googled liftvapor and along with all the results were buku complaints. well i researched it some more and contacted my states attorny generals office and developed a stratigy. seeing i had allready opened and used liftvapors kit before i found out it was'nt free but a trail the policy is i must get a return number from them and return the product unused. to void the agreement. how can this be done? it cant. because to meet your obligation to they're agreement you have to use the product first. so i will contact them and request a shipping lable from the're shipper of choice and i'll repack it and send it back. i'm only out my shipping charge. otherwise i will consider this product mine. minnesota has laws concerning hold harmless contracts. i'll contact the other two and make them the same offer. if you do cancel there auto billing the charge you full retail on what you got. which i figure to 200% of retail from the overpriced ecigalike sites. i will keep every one informed as i go through this ordeal. regards mike
  10. but still my research indacates vg is promaraly made of vegatable oil. i am finding it hard to find were manufactuers and vendors show there certification that they are not using recycled oil. thats my point. regards mike
  11. hi all, i recently had a discussion with a co-worker about her attempt to switch to ecigs. apparently she tried one of the cigalikes for about 4 weeks but, gave it up because they were giving her headaches. having had read posts indicating possible alergic reations to dg i researched and found the brand she chose used vp. i know shes alergic to potato's so i researched how vp was made. mostly from vegatable oil.this is made mostly from soy bean seeds. they use other vegatable seed but no potatoe. good thing i scrolled down the google results page. this is what i found. a lot of vegatable oil is recycled.its used for many things. the main source of recycled v-oil comes from potato proccessing plants then restuarants. recycled from the're friers. there you go i found the potato in the vegatable oil. i know an alergy to potato's is not common but, what about those folks alergic to fish? restuarants fry a lot of fish. this brings me to my point. is the vp in ecig juice made using fresh vegatable oil or recycled oil.i would assume both depending on cost and availability. it is a known problem that recycled oil could be a problem with people that have certain food allergies. i hope the vendors and manufacturers are aware of this. heads up to you diy'ers. regards mike
  12. moderators if this post is not appropiate delete move or modify as needed. hi all, here in the land of 10,000 taxes and 100,000 thing you should never do,still has'nt banned ecigs.(dont worry they will get around to it) with the permission of the owner, lou,i amhappy to announce ecigs are ok. having worked part time for about 20 years there i can say its a little cozy bar and grill. very friendly to reasonable people. i hope i'm not violating any rules here(yes i've read them but i've read windows 7 uela too) here we go, govenors bar case and arcade, east side saint paul,mn. hope to see you,i'm working the pulltabs for a charitable.org these days there. regards mike
  13. i dont know about life insurance but according to the federal goverment ecigs are classified the same as analogs for the purpose concerning health insurance. this means when all the provisions of obama care kick in,(notice they keep delaying them?) there will be a 50% surcharge on the insurance you must buy. they will be sending out test kits. how this is all going to work out i dont know. i cant afford insurance now. regards mike
  14. hi all, 2 weeks and a day off analogs for me. i stumbled apon v2s at my local tobacco shop. having just turned 58 and having health issues my birthday present to myself was to try to give up cigarettes so i bought a v2 kit and never looked back. being that in minnesota the average price per pak of smokes is $7.50. i could have started with gold plated hardware and still saved money so that was'nt an issue. cons:buying local is really pricey. 1 kit w/batt,cartridge and recharger x 2 =$50.00 5 pack refills x 1 =$21.00 found another store that had the kit for $15.00 x 1 so now i have 3 batts & 3 chargers & 3 carts. went to v2s sight found 5 packs of carts were only $9.95,free shipping x 3 =$30.00 then i found a localy made ejuice(vapotech) 30 ml x 2 =$40.00 $156.00 total yikes, but the carts can be refilled. pros:having the equivelent of 68 packs(aproximate est) at $7.50 a pack= $510 - my $156.00 investment = $354.00 in savings. my health is improving allready.they work for me. they can be very discrete.you can take them anywhere. good taste and very easy to use for a newb like me. i'll probably upgrade at some time but for now i am very happy. also i have found more vavorable reviews than the few negatives. the most negative being the cost. regards mike
  15. here in the mnpls/st.paul metro area we've allways had a lot of tobacco stores all have been hyping ecigs. usually the blu's,v2's,greenliving,or 777's. more and more though are displaying more of a complete set up,with just about everything. we even have 2 local makers of ejuice. things are picking up here as i have been seeing more vapors out and about. regards mike
