  1. I didn't realize when I started vaping I was becoming a revolutionary. This just makes no sense to me at all. But then again, most of life is becoming more confusing by the day.
  2. I recommend buying attys in bulk quantities of at least five. You get a break on the price and you have back up in case a bad one shows up. I know it seems like you're spending a lot of money, but think about what you used to spend on analogs. I order five attys at a time from ecigsupply.com at around $37.00. I order 3 bottles of juice at a time at around $29.00. The attys last me at least two months(I have two or three e-cigs in play at a time), so that works out to $18.50/month on attys. The juice lasts about two weeks, which works out to around $60.00/month for juice. That's $78.50/month. I smoked 4 cartons of analogs per month, which cost me around $160.00. The way I figure it, I'm saving almost $100 month by vaping.
  3. I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. In order to get the levels of nicotine you're talking about, you would have to drink a couple of bottle of the juice. A person using an e-cig would have to work pretty hard to get anywhere close to 30-60mg of nicotine into their system by inhaling. Having said that, changing either nic levels or the way you use the device is a good idea if you're getting bad side effects. It's kind of like the guy who went to the doctor: Man: "Doctor, it hurts when I move my arm like this." Doctor: "Then don't move your arm like that."
  4. Regardless of the strength, the other factor that is going to contribute to the "buzz" or headache is how the user is vaping. If they are drawing on the e-cig like they would an analog, they are going to be more prone to the unpleasant side effects of nicotine. At least that's my experience. With e-cigs the user needs to learn a new way of "smoking", so to speak. I have learned to take long, slow draws on my 510, and limit myself to 2-3 draws at a time. I tend to go 15-20 minutes between draws, which has eliminated the "buzz" from the nicotine. I use a 24-28mg strength juice in order to get the throat hit that I'm looking for.
  5. Placed my order with DietSmokes this morning for two packs of cartos. Can't wait to try these out when I'm driving to my next camping trip. Waiting until I stop to redrip was no fun at all this last weekend.
  6. That makes me think it might be a good idea to store my juice in the refrigerator when I'm out camping. What do y'all think?
  7. There's the rub! No way to identify the source of the nicotine. Kind of like standing too close to the doobie at a Greatful Dead concert and getting pulled for a random drug test at work the next day.
  8. The key to any encounter with TSA is demeanor! The slightest inkling that the passenger is nervous or angry is going to get attention...and not the good kind. With the Christmas Day incident, air rage incidents a couple of times a month, and general crazies flying these day, TSA is just not prone to toleration. My general approach is to smile and say "Yes, sir/ma'am" at every turn. And so far, that has worked pretty well. Not that I haven't gone through my share of advanced screenings, but getting upset would not improve the situation.
  9. Keep in mind that the purpose of smoking cessation products is to get people off of cigarettes/nicotine. The idea with most of the patches, gum, etc., is that you keep reducing the nicotine levels until the patient can quit completely. E-cigs, while they can allow a person to withdraw from nicotine by reducing the nicotine levels, is more of a substitute for analogs. I would want to keep them from being classified in any way that would allow the FDA to mess with them, other than maybe having a say in safety factors. I don't want to give them a back door for eventually getting rid of them. Because that's what the big tobacco companies want to see happen.
  10. The taste of burning tobacco is an acquired taste. There's really nothing good about it. As as long as I'm getting the nicotine, I might as well end up with a good taste in my mouth. What I'm finding is that I need to change up pretty often because I get tired of one taste. Today I'm really enjoying red hot cinnamon sticks. Yesterday it was strawberry cheesecake.
  11. You've gotten some great replies on nic levels and such, but I wanted to share an observation on when to replace the cart/filler. I use a 510 atty on a DS905, and when I can only add a couple of drops to re-wet the filler it's a good indication that I need to replace it. I think after a while, the filler gets a "crust" on it from the heat of the atty and it doesn't absorb as well. That and it just becomes saturated with juice that doesn't get pulled into the atty. As for the VG juice, I've found that I need a little higher level of nicotine in VG to get the same throat hit. It probably has something to do with the fact that VG vaporizes easier, or more efficiently than PG. Not sure, but a little higher nic level gives me what I'm looking for.
  12. I'm with you, Christopher. Before anyone is called out they should be asked if they want to give their side of the story. It's just too easy to ruin someone's reputation with unfounded charges. I agree, if the supplier is really a bad egg and doesn't respond with an explanation, let people know. But if they offer an explanation or a solution, be sure to give that side of the story as well.
  13. These instructions are unnecessary steps. This method is for older style batteries and the 8 hour/20 minute steps really don't accomplish anything. When the batteries are fully charged they are fully charged...period! The method described in the instructions don't hurt anything. They just don't accomplish anything. As someone else pointed out, the 510 batteries will last about 60-90 minutes on a charge. You will eventually start looking at some of the mods if you follow the pattern most of us have followed. Moving away from the pre-filled carts will also be a better choice since you want to go to 0-nic. Explore some of the video links to learn about using e-liquid, how to put new fill in carts, and how to direct-drip. Then you can experiment to figure out what works best for you. Welcome to the forum and ask all the questions you need to in order to get the most out of vaping. It really is a better choice than analogs.
  14. Keep in mind that any alcohol content in the vapor is going to be even lower than in liquid form because of a vaporization process. The heat of the atomizer is going to burn off a significant portion of any alcohol. Mouthwash, on the other hand, is not diluted in any way, and some of them contain a pretty high volume of alcohol as a primary ingredient. I would be shocked if you were able to trigger your interlock after vaping.
  15. The recommendation of the 510 is a good one. But don't get too hung up on whether or not it looks like an analog. I think you'll find that to be one of the least important factors if you find you enjoy vaping. In fact, if you end up like most of us, you will probably start thinking about one of the mod units pretty quickly because of extended battery life. And none of the mods looks like your Marlboro or Camel analogs. In fact, I'll go a step further and say that once you get going, you won't even care if you get a cigarette taste when you vape. If you're getting your nicotine, you'll enjoy a variety of flavors that are available. And even better, you won't make up in the morning with your mouth tasting like a herd of camels hiked through your overnight. Good luck with making the switch. Odds are, you will find this is a much better option than analogs.
