PET bottles?

Recommended Posts

I recently visited a site that said they are using new PET bottles that improves the lifespan of juice and keeps e-liquids tasting fresher for longer. Does anyone know what these PET bottles are and if they do what the site says? Most of my juices I just get in plastic and some of my liquid has turned dark brown. The juice still tastes great but it looks gross. Do just regular glass bottles preserve juice better then plastic?

PET stands for "Polyethylene Terephthalate" it the type of plastic used. PET bottles are more rigid than the LDPE type bottles. and come in a verity of colors. Just the plastic type has nothing to do with the freshness. Bottle color is what matters. Brown or Bark Blue hold the freshness more because it filters out light. If they are using PET bottles that are brown then yes it will help. I do not like PET style bottles because they have a tendency to crack.when using them.

PET bottles are not in anyway new either, they have been making them for years.

I'm my opinion I feel amber (brown) or Dark Blue (Cobalt Blue) glass is better.for juice.

I really like the look of Cobalt Blue glass jars, too. They look nice and "clean" on the shelf with bright-white labels!

I bought a dozen of the 30ml dropper bottles and a dozen of the 60ml dropper bottles from Amazon for ~$20 a while back, and use them for my blending and mixing.

Comp is right about blocking light... Amber and Cobalt Blue bottles have been used for centuries by pharmacists, apothecaries, and scientists in-general to prevent light from causing unwanted Oxygen-reactions to stored chemicals (just like Hydrogen Peroxide will only be found in brown bottles... blocks the light to prevent Oxygen from reacting out of the mixture - leaving only water in the bottle).

Talking about the cobalt blue bottles

comp I still have a little bit of Snickerdoodle that I bought from you that came in the cobalt blue bottle. See how long I have had that juice? I love that Snickerdoodle but I try to rotate all my juices so hopefully I wont go past the expiration date. I buy juice when I don't really need it but it will be a ridiculously good deal (only from venders I have tried and trust) and I can't help taking advantage of a good deal. Sometimes I am worried I am going to pass the expiration date. I have not done that yet but I am only 2 1/2 years in.

Most makers date the juice and it is good for up to 1 year. That is the recommended time you can store it at normal room temperature. However, it can last longer if you keep it in a cool dark place like your refrigerator. Excessive heat can make it go bad faster no matter what it is in as well as sun light if it is in the clear bottles. So long as the dates are within that year date and it was not exposed to excessive heat or prolonged sun light, you should be fine. :)
