College Football Fans?

Recommended Posts

Maybe you can tell from my screen name but I am a HUGE UT Vol fan, alumni, and supporter. Because of my involvement with the team over the years I have made several good friends that play and have played over the years. When Arian Foster was in town for our spring game he stayed with us, and man it was a party. We are part of the Vol Navy and take the boat up for several games a year. Surprising that Tennessee is one of the only schools you can go to a sporting event by boat and park right at the stadium, it is quite the tradition.

Anyway just sharing, and maybe making a thread for a little college football and smacktalk. As of right now we have the #1 recruiting class in the country for 2014 and our new coach is great. I have met and spoken with him several times and Alabama, Florida, LSU, and the rest of the SEC better look out in about 3 years when we will be returned to our rightful place amongst the top of the SEC!

Not a huge college football fan...I catch games here and there. But maybe you should start a fishing thread. Nice sized crappie. You pull those out of a local lake? I'm not far from the coast and my favorite is deep sea. The salmon fishing is getting better locally. I'm going out in a couple of weeks. Lots of rock cod, ling and halibut. We don't have great lake fishing nearby (about 3 or 4 hours is best). The Sierras are about 4 hours out and great river and stream fishing there.

Yea it's my home lake. I do some guiding for some customers at the dealership I run for crappie. I have some good pics, I may start a fishing thread tomorrow. We basically live on the water and spend about every weekend on our cruiser. If I could live on a boat I would but the wife is against it lol. Not a battle I can win at this point haha

There are 6 large lakes within 50 miles of where we live but I spend most my time on Tellico and Ft Loudon lakes. I am in East Tennessee in the valley between the Appalachians and the Cumberland Plateau. So beautiful here.

I am south of San Francisco in the foothills about 30 minutes from Santa Cruz and Halfmoon Bay. 49ers, Giants, and Sharks. Lots of outdoor stuff and great weather and not too far to get away from it all - Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, Monterey. Damn...now I want to go fishing...

I'm glad to hear that the Vols will be in pretty good shape in 3 years, and not that 'I' would ever talk smack, but I have found '3 years' to be an excellent period for safe projection of wishful thinking.......especially in football. :yes

But, the number 3 'is' significant this year, as the 3rd week of 'this' season will have the Vols portraying the 'sacrificial lamb' in The Swamp.

Actually the Gators are week 4 for us this year and yes, we will probably lose again. It is so sad what Derek Dooley did to our program in his tenure here. I am very glad we got Butch Jones. I know him, his family now, and he is a quality coach. We will be back atop the East very soon, or at least back in the mix every year. I went to 2 practices already this fall and was at almost every one in the Spring and we are going to surprise some people. Maybe even a Gator!

Realistically though I predict a 6-6 or 7-5 finish. Our OLine is the best in the SEC and rated #2 in the nation. That and the switch back to the 4-3 defense these kids were recruited to play in the first place could end up with 8 wins if we can surprise Oregon, Florida, Georgia, or South Carolina. There is an amazing amount of talent that on this team that has been leaderless these last 3 years.

But the future is bright. This is the most 4* commits we have ever had in August and more than any other two SEC schools combined at this point. #1 recruiting class by Rivals and 247Sports. Great things are happening on Rocky Top. Maybe not this year, but the next couple will be a lot of fun being back to competing with teams we have great rivalries with like the Gators (my most hated team, sorry but they are lol).

Actually, I'm not so confident, I've seen 'Vanderbilt' scare the Gators enough, not to count on anything. But that could be from just taking the 'favorite' role overboard.

Our problem is not talent, its depth. Dooley let recruiting go so badly that we are only 1-2 deep at most positions with quality players. If the games ended at halftime I would predict us winning 8-9 maybe even 10 games this year but most of our quality opponents (Oregon, Florida, Bama, S Car, Georgia) are 3-4 deep at most positions.

Two names to remember are Cameron Sutton and Marquez North. Both freshmen, both future superstars, and if they get it going on this year it could be awesome!

My college team is ECU pirates We love our purple and gold. It is about 40 minute drive from home in Greenville NC; We pirates know how to party partee. Time and again we are named in Playboys top 10 party college towns and yet some years we play some pretty good football.

I think it was ECU I watched in the Liberty Bowl a few years back. I try to go to a couple Bowl games every year when I have time.

At UT we have something no one else has lol. We have the Vol Navy where we go to the game by boat. My parking spot on the water is less than 1000 feet from the gate we enter into.

This is my wife and the DJ we hired at last years Florida game. Yes, that is a mason jar of East Tennessee's finest in her hand lol.

We usually have a couple jars of Apple Pie and a couple of this Strawberry flavored that is sort of like syrup. Its cooked down with real strawberries and strained. The strawberry when combined with ice in a blender makes for the most potent daiquiri you have ever tried lol. I forget things haha.

And yea that is Apple Pie in her hand, you can see the Apples and Cinnamon stick if you look closely. I have a pic of "the next morning" for comparison haha. About to post is since she will never know I posted it here.
