Yeah, the AGA-T beats the Smok-R like a dog in every possible category. I'm really enjoying mine so far.

Rob, the email i sent was indeed to that email address. I did submit a ticket through your website but felt that the issue wasn't being handled correctly as the rep. continually ignored my points and only stuck to the 'you have the wrong batteries, can't help you' story. I appreciate your looking into it. I've said it before but i'll say it again, I would have gladly paid a few bucks for some magnetic spacers at the time of purchase, and that's really all i was trying to get across through the customer service ticket, that this is an issue with all AW and flattop efest batteries, and that you guys should stock some spacers and remove 'works with flat tops fine' from the product page. Thanks,

    Dan

Heh, dig the musician gear reference. Speaking of which, my Galien Krueger combo amp crapped out on me at band practice on Sunday. Clearly, this hasn't been my week for **** working right. lol

I've got one for you. Last week I was getting hard up for juice. I'd been holding out on making a big order because I was waiting for Alien Visions to reopen their web orders (gotta have my Boba's). While Christmas shopping, I decided to pop by the e-cig kiosk in the mall to see if i could grab about 20 ml of something vapable to carry me over. I'd noticed before that this kiosk sells eGo gear so I figured they'd have more than just pre-filled cartridges for some weird proprietary starter kit junk. Promising, right? I walk up to encounter your clueless hourless employee. She'd obviously been trained on their products but was completely ignorant of the vaping world at large. Ok. What follows is our exchange. Me: Hi, I'm wondering if you guys sell bottles of e-liquid. Her: Yes, we do. Me: Okay, what kinds do you have? Her: We have everything (sure they do). What do you smoke? We have apple, peach, menthol, chocolate... Everything. Me: Uh, usually VG-based tobacco flavors with 18 mg nicotine.. Her: We have tobacco flavor. (At this point I'm expecting your typical Dekang 555 or something similar.) Me: Cool. What size bottles are you selling? (She opens a drawer and produces what looks like a 10ml bottle of unmarked e-liquid.) Her: This is the size of bottle that e-liquid comes in. This sells for $39.95 on it's own but is only $25.00 if you buy one of our starter kits. (FORTY BUCKS FOR 10 ML OF SOME RANDOM CHINESE JUICE ARE YOU ******* KIDDING ME) Me: Wow, ah, seriously? That price is for a 10 mil bottle? Her: I have no idea. They're this size. Me: Look, I know you're not setting these prices, but you should know that is outrageous. Her: Uh, yeah, I have no idea. (A trend emerges.) Me: I encourage you to Google this stuff since you're selling it to people. Just so you know - this (as I pick up the bottle) costs about five dollars. Not forty. That is an insane price. Your company is ripping people off who don't know any better. (She's looking kind of uncomfortable by now so I ease off.) I'm not going to buy this, but thanks for your time. ... And I leave. I nearly lost my **** when she dropped that price.

Houston, we have a problem...BE nic titration results

Just to bring people back up to speed with this issue, several people here suspected that their Box Elder unflavored nic was too high compared to the labeled concentration. Someone claimed to have tested that theirs was 240 mg/mL. Others stated that theirs was also strangely strong. I, on the other hand, suspected mine was just different somehow, since it had no TH and very little odor in the 100 mg VG I bought. I offered to run full titration pH-curve analysis on any nic that was sent to me, since I was interested in nic level as well as freebase/nic-salt ratio. Several sent me samples of theirs, and I am presenting the results here, after spending much of the day doing these as accurately as possible.

At some point during the discussions, BE decided to send an email out to all its customers stating that it was impossible for anyone to receive >200 mg nic, and people should be assured that whatever the nic level was that was ordered, that was the nic level received.

Titration curves are not difficult to obtain, but to do them accurately requires specialized glassware and electronics. In my 30 year career I have done 1000s of such titrations.

What I did: I used a PASCO pH probe calibrated to within 0.001 pH points at buffer pHs of 4, 7, and 10. I also used a calibrated PASCO drop counter, allowing accuracy to within about 1/30th of a mL during the titration. I used volumetric pipets and volumetric flasks to make dilutions for the nic liquids to be titrated, and I titrated with standardized 0.0730M HCl. pH at 0 mL titrant was measured to estimate freebase/salt ratio, and pH curve was created to past the first equivalence point (2nd inflection point). Each nic sample sent to me was titrated 3 times at least, and most samples sent were enough to do another set of 3 titrations. The nic concentration was then calculated from the titrant volume at the first equivalence point, back calculating to the original sample concentration.

All samples, including my own sample, were virtually all freebase form, base on initial pH and final nic content found.

I will give the results in two columns. The first is the nic content as given on the label. Second column will be the nic conc as determined by the above method.

    Nic labeled.....Nic determined

100 mg....48 mg (This one was mine. Thanks BE.)
    100 mg....120 mg
    100 mg....272 mg
    48 mg....78 mg
    36 mg....51 mg
    48 mg....59 mg
100 mg....98 mg (this was my MFS 100 mg VG)

I would say the intrinsic error is less than 2% for all of these. These results are as accurate as is obtainable, IMHO. I knew the one that gave the result of 272 mg was way high when I opened it, as it was so strong in nic odor that I had to work with it in a fume hood for the dilutions. It was also honey-amber, whereas the others were either colorless or slight yellow.

272 mg nic was likely the base they diluted to 100 mg from, or else they were mistakenly sent a lot of 100 mg nic that was actually 272 mg.

I don't give a rat's a$$ what their excuse is, someone could well have died from this! I am a seasoned chemist, and this liquid was seriously scary to work with. Clearly there is more concern with CYA than actually testing their nic. Had they been responsible and expressed concern and actually tested their nic, this might have been avoided, but they instead chose to lie and even condescend as to how ridiculous the idea of levels being sold wrong was, and how oh so professional they are.

For this community, this is about as bad as it can get. I strongly recommend Box Elder be banned from ECF, and the word should be spread to other ecig forums. The FDA would have a field day with this. If others want their nic analyzed, PM me.

Vendors, you are now on notice. Either self-regulate and KNOW what you are selling, quantitatively, or else you are putting people, as well as the industry itself, in grave danger. I have no problem buying small quantities of unflavored nic solely for testing purposes. You have been warned.

I am seriously outraged by this.

I started a thread over this thing but it's probably more appropriate to post it here. I've got some other stuff - a Boge Rev. box, a SD-II, but this is my current best friend:

A quick thanks to Bob over at Vaporsupplies.com ... since that is where I discovered this originally.

I just thought it was a pretty cool breakdown and description of everything cartomizer! Check it out...

Cartomizer, also named atomized cartridge, is a two-in-one device with a combined function of both atomizer and cartridge. That means with cartomizer, an e-cig reduces from three parts (battery, atomizer, cartridge) into two parts (battery and cartomizer). You do not need to use a cartridge to hold the e-juice, but only to refill the e-juice into the cartomizer.
    Why to choose?
    Compared with atomizers, cartomizer is:
    *Two-in-one design, simpler and cleaner
    *Rather cheaper in price
    *Fairly larger in capacity
    How to choose?

    Man

    I have to say

The vaping really seems like the perfect addiction.

I'm sitting here with a fresh batt in hand... after wiping one out during band practice (I'll take both next time). I'm finishing off the dripped cart before bed. The rest of the band (all smokers) are jealous of my wondrous puffs of beauty in the jam room, which is smoke free.

I'll bet I have at least one convert on my watch by the end of the month.

The best part? My wife doesn't give me a hard time over vaping. She truly has my best interests at heart, but it's nice to be able to get a few puffs while we're watching TV or playing video games, guilt free.

The next step is making my coworkers comfortable with it so I don't have to go outside the office to vape.

    Hi everybody,

I'm a new member / new vaper and just found this site today. I normally lurk for a while before jumping into forum conversation but some of the things I've read have prompted a question that I should probably get cleared up right away.

    First a little about me:

I started vaping over the weekend. I'd smoked cigs since I was 15 (I'm 29 now) but quit about two years ago. Since that time I sort of re-picked-up a cigarillo habit (we're talking the $2.50/pack gas station stuff) which has become more-and-more of a habit over time. I'm not back to the amount of cigarettes I used to smoke, or even close, but I can only imagine the filtered cigarillos are even worse for me than my old Camels were. I've started vaping because, if I'm going to be "smoking" something, it might as well be something that's not going to give me emphysema and cancer by age 55.

The guy I spoke to at the Vapor Shop recommended that I start with the standard joye 510 starter kit with the two attys, two manual batteries, wall charger, and 5 pre-filled carts. I've already replaced the fill in one cart and am using the 555 36ml juice I bought from the shop (which is pretty good, and that's coming from a cigar smoker). No mods yet, but I'm loving the amount of vapor I'm getting so far and with the two batts I'm not feeling any pain from the battery life.

And here (finally) comes my question.

Am I at risk of damaging my battery by leaving it in the charger beyond the point that it's fully charged? Like overnight, or plugged in all day while I am at work (with my other batt)? I'd hate to think I'm damaging 1/2 my batteries right now as I sit here!'

Thanks for any help - this seems like a great forum and it's already in my faves list.
