i bought my original ego from puresmoker about a year ago, was definitely happy with their service as well. I currently have an ego 18650 tube mod (button is crap), a black e-power 18650 (finish is crap, flaked off in 3 days), and an e-power chrome 18650 which is actually not terrible. The only reason i never got an icon or a prodigy is that i have 9 18650 batteries and i'd feel ridiculous getting a mod that doesn't use them. I've been looking for a higher quality mod (NOT made in china), and this one looks perfect, i can use the batteries i already have and add variable voltage at any time.

I don't think there's a single smoker in america who is unaware of the dangers of smoking, self-righteous anti-smokers will jump at any opportunity to tell them. So will this inform anyone of something they weren't already aware of? probably not. would it have dissuaded me? no. This may be an unpopular opinion, but i think enough has been done to inform smokers of the health risks of smoking, smokers know it's bad, and have that voice in the back of their heads that quitting is probably a good idea, but quitting happens by choice, when the drive and desire to quit overpower the addiction, and no amount of fear-based mud-slinging or tax-hikes will fully eradicate smoking in its entirety.

But the true zealots of any cause never really stop after tunnel vision sets in. smoking at this point is wildly unpopular, broadly known to be extremely bad for your health, and ridiculously expensive. Friends telling friends about vaping will eventually do a hell of a lot more than outright oppression. I believe it's time for the anti-smoking zealots to slow it down a bit and let smokers quit on their own.

And hey, if you're an anti-smoker who has trouble letting people live their lives, maybe it's time to go after fast food, that will kill you way faster than smoking could ever hope to.

for future reference, it might be a good idea to try boiling them 3 or four times for 10 minutes, blowing them out each time. or pick up an ultrasonic cleaner and clean them with vodka 3 or 4 times, just running hot water through them never seemed to work for me. i only use cartomizers now, which don't clean out too well

dual coil carto's tend to have a tighter draw than boge's or atomizers, so the cone isn't really necessary, i haven't used mine in some time

i've used 90% vg juice with the regular dual coil cartomizers filling with the cap method, and it takes no longer than 80% pg juice. with boge's on the other hand, even a 50/50 will take forever to wick. if you find a high vg juice you really like, get a couple of emdcc's (eGo mega dual-coil cartomizers), they work great with even 100%vg

one of the best things you can do is go through a bunch of the topics here on the forum, keep reading and getting info and opinions, it really helped me out when i was just starting out. i spent a crapload in the beginning, as i'm one who learns through failure, if i'd taken more time to read forum topics, i'd likely have spent a lot less at first.

So I've been using an eGo for about 9-10 months now, and i'm overall satisfied with it. I'm considering upgrading to either a provape-1 or a provari,, but i have some concerns, I've heard that neither of those work particularly well with dual-coil cartomizers, and that's mainly what i use. I realize that i could use boge's just fine with either, but the problem is that i use mainly high-vg juices, and the boge's just don't work very well with vg, whereas dual coil cartomizers such as the emdcc or xl, mega, etc. work very well with vg. I understand that for variable voltage devices, a higher resistance is preferable and i would take that into consideration. I think I'd rather stick with 3.7 volts and low resistance cartomizers. I'm looking hard at the provape-1 because you can get the high performance aw batteries for it, which i've heard are a lot better than standard eGo batteries, also it's made in the USA, and i'm into that sort of thing. my eGo 1000mAh batteries fade pretty quickly with dual coil cartomizers and in my head it seems like the provape-1 would just be all-around better. anyone have any experience with these combinations?

I'd be fine switching to single-coil cartomizers except that they're too small, all the big cartomizers seem to be dual-coil, also, the taste with dual coil cartomizers with high vg juice is excellent, where the reverse is true with thinner high pg juice.

I'm not chomping at the bit to get a mod or anything, but paying $5-$10 per battery is preferable to paying $20, especially when they're higher quality. I have no interest in cheap plastic mods or anything non-cylindrical. I've also looked at the icon and the prodigy (puresmoker.com), but i'm not sold on the bottom-battery thing.

    Any ideas?

the boge cartomizers have a fairly dense filler material, 40% VG is about as high as i've gone with good results, i use them mainly for my thinner juices. any of the smoktek cartomizers work well with high vg mixes as they have a less dense filler material. the emdcc's are particularly good with 100% vg. I've yet to use a cartomizer that can go more than 3 or 4 fills of high vg before degrading and needing a good boiling, which is an unfortunate trade-off for vg.

Even if you end up not liking the tank system, all it takes is ten bucks for a 5-pack of cartomizers, or about the same for an atty and a drip tip. I personally didn't like the tank system, tasted like burning plastic to me, but i was probably doing something wrong. I basically just use cartomizers now, once you get the hang of them, they're great!

i think the fact that your sense of smell, sense of taste, and lung capacity come back are strong indicators that it's certainly better for you than smoking, but without the aid of long-term testing, it's hard to say exactly how safe vaping is for you. but when you look at things like fast food and car exhaust, it sorta becomes relative. the dangers of smoking are well known, and the obvious benefits of vaping are reason enough for me to continue, regardless of any unforseen dangers.

After reading both of your posts, I don't quite understand. You've never smoked and you only vaped once years ago. You didn't like vaping because you didn't get enough vapor...you want heavy vapor. How do you know you want heavy vapor if you've never had it? In your other post you said "The sensation of vapor coming out of the mouth is just so pleasant, it's akin to getting a nice body massage.", but in this one you said "I didn't particularly enjoy it because the ecig I had was pretty crappy and didn't produce much vapor at all so I left it." I'm not sure how it can be pleasant and yet you didn't enjoy it. If you did not enjoy the experience years ago, why are you interested again?

Everyone here used to be a smoker. We switched to vaping in the hopes that it would be better for our health than smoking. We all believe that it is, but it is a substitute for smoking. For most of us, if we couldn't vape, we'd go back to smoking. Simple as that. Vaping isn't cheap by any means - even using 0 nic liquid. For most of us, it's just a better option than smoking.

We are here to help anyone who wants to make the switch from smoking to vaping. We do not encourage non-smokers to take up vaping, but we can make recommendations if it's really something you want to do (assuming you are over the age of 18). If someone was wanting to try smoking, I would encourage them to try vaping instead, but I think I would try to discourage them from trying either one. I only want you to think about it.

i say as long as you're not getting a blu/green/envy, etc.. then you're on the right path. most people go for the skinnier ecigs thinking that there's a mental connection between the physical size of the device and its probability to succeed, but there really isn't, i got over the ego's size in 2 seconds, it's all about how it feels when you inhale and exhale, and a 510 has it where it counts, but take a good look at the ego before you make your decision.

so... i have no idea what a porter is, and yes, i am a mega ultra nerd.... anywho, since beer contains a great deal of "contaminents" (read. things that aren't distilled water), those can cause a circuit to "jump" to and from places that they shouldn't (electrolytes sound electric-ee because they are). I would disassemble your mod as much as possible, get out the rubbing alcohol, and get the softest bristled scrubbing brush you can get (a cheap toothbrush would do fine), dip the brush in the rubbing alcohol, and scrub all the beer residue away, rinse, repeat, and finally rinse with distilled water, then blow out as much water as you can with compressed air as quickly as possible, then let it sit and dry for far longer than you think might be necessary. it just might be salvageable.

if the circuit already jumped and something is fried, get ahold of the people who made it, and find out if they have spare parts lying around, chances are you'll just need to solder in a new wire or circuit board and it could be up and running with relative ease. if nothing works, pm me, i might be able to fix it.

I've tried several brands and have settled on Greensmoke and Blu. Greensmoke is a little more expensive for the start kit, weighs more, holds a charge longer and is a good product (closer to a real cigarette) and customer service. Blu is a little cheaper for the starter kit, but is lighter and needs to charge more often. They do have a nice portable charger that looks like a pack. More info at www.greensmoke.com/morgs or http://goo.gl/xpfmk.

JonHitThingWithRock reacted to Francifighter in How To Choose All-In-One Electronic Cigarette
The heavy smoking areas are the teahouse, internet cafe, entertainment places, hospital, market and school. With the coming of the smoking ban, the electronic cigarette becomes popular. Expecially, it doesn't contain the same tar, tobacco and chemicals, this means not only is it a healthier alternative to cigarettes for the user, it is a very welcome alternative for non smokers too. Gone are the smells, the filthy butts, the ashtrays and more. In addition, the user can now light up in public places. For all these reasons, electronic cigarettes are rapidly growing in popularity and street cred.

Whenever a new product hits the scene, and really captures the attention of people, you just know there are going to be a plethora of different versions, and brands. There will be good and bad, and it can be so confusing and frustrating trying to figure out which to go with. Obviously you don't want to waste any money, time, or energy.

The question now is how to choose a decent electronic cigarette, if you are looking for a decent electrionic cigarette, follow the tips:

    1. Read reviews. Electronic cigarettes are still fairly new, which means some brands of e-cigs still have some kinks to work out. There are a few e-smoker forums online with e-cigarette reviews to assist you in narrowing down the e-cig brands you might be interested in purchasing.

    2. Check with the dealer or manufacturer to confirm that the e-cig cartridges are refillable. Or, if you are not interested in refilling your own cartridges, find out which cartridges are available where you live, or can be easily ordered online.

Keep in mind that if you choose to refill your e-cig cartridges, not only will you save money, but you can purchase smoke juice that does not contain propylene glycol. While the FDA has approved propylene glycol as safe for consumption, no long-term studies have been conducted - particularly for inhaling it with an atomizer - so you will need to decide whether or not it is worth the risk. E-cigs are already safer alternatives for smokers, but by taking this one additional step and avoiding propylene glycol, you might be able to make it even safer.

    3. Avoid mall kiosks. The only advantage of buying your electronic cigarette from a mall kiosk is the ease of returning the product if it does not work. Aside from that, you can expect to pay three to four times more for an e-cig from the mall, than you would if you purchased it online.

    4. Search for coupon codes. While you will already be saving money if you purchase your e-cigarette online, saving more is always better. Coupon codes are common - and are often listed in electronic cigarette forums - so it is well worth the time to search for coupon codes for brands you are considering.

    5. Consider a starter kit. Most e-cig dealers and manufacturers offer an electronic starter kit. E-cig starter kits can save you money and generally include one or two e-cig batteries, an atomizer, a battery charger and cartridges.

    6. Look for a warranty. As mentioned before, e-cigs are still relatively new and it is clear that manufacturers are still working to improve the product. Some dealers and manufacturers offer warranties up to a year in length, which you may want to take advantage of, since it is quite common for e-smokers to have issues with their electronic cigarettes upon purchase.

    7. Purchase extra parts. Make sure you have spare atomizers and cartridges on hand at all times. You never know when your atomizer might burn out and you do not want to be without the parts you need and be forced to wait for new parts to be shipped before you can enjoy your e-cig again.

Just like any other product you might buy online, you are choosing without the benefit of seeing for yourself. You have to make the best informed decision that you can, and then go ahead rder.

to be honest, you're gonna have a hell of a time finding something that tastes exactly like any one particular premade cigarette. i'd say try a bunch of different vendors, and see what she likes best, but don't shy away from other flavors.

I bought a couple sampler packs, which contained menthol, and i'm not into menthol, so if you're interested in trying different ones, i've got like 6 bottles you can have. let me know

lol, many questions indeed. as someone who has just bought all of this stuff, i think i can help.

"So I read in a previous thread that for direct dripping using my eGo to go with the LR atomizer. What the difference with that and the mega I see in the store?"

the mega atomizers are just bigger, they're the same diameter as your ego battery, instead of skinny like the 510 attys that came with it, and they come in standard resistance and low resistance, i got the low resistance ones, because lr is frickin awesome!

"If I get the regular lr atomizer are there cartridges for that or should I just go with a tank system?"

there are cartridges for the skinny 510 attys, and the mega attys in both cone and cylinder styles. however, carts aren't very good, you're better off using your atomizers for direct dripping, and a tank system or cartomizers for when you can't drip.

"Typically I just direct drip with my atomizer but I see that some are using cartridges (do they leak) or the tank system and are happy."

i haven't had any leaking issues with cartridges, but direct dripping is way better. the tank system hasn't leaked very much for me. if you can direct drip, do, i prefer it to everything else.

"Will my cone fit over a regular or mega atomizer? Do I need a drip tip for either...looks so."

your cone will fit over the 510 style atomizers, not the megas, as they's the same diameter as the big end of the cone. you need a drip tip for any atomizer you want to drip with (at a buck apiece, get one for 510, one for ego cone, and one for ego cylinder and be prepared for everything)

"If I want to try the tank system, do I need a special atomizer?"

yes, you need an eGo-T atomizer (the -T is for tank) and yes, it will work with your regular eGo

"Do I buy the tank cartridges separately?"

yes, look for eGo-T tank cartridges, they're usually blue, translucent and all plastic.

"Should I just go ahead and get a tank kit?"

you could, you'll have to weigh your options, the tank kit is easier to clean and refill than cartomizers

"Should I just stick with the lr cartomizers I have been using with success?"

IMO, cartomizers are great if you're sticking with one particular liquid, if you're trying a bunch of different liquids, they're a huge pain to clean all the time. if you fill them with the same liquid over and over, you only really have to clean them once they start producing less vapor and throat hit. tanks and cartomizers are both great options for when you can't drip, i've tried them both and can't really decide on which is best.

    hope this helps

I have tried cartomizers, clearomizers, e2 cartomizers, and the tank system and I prefer the e2 cartomizers myself. I tried the tank system and it doesnt produce enough flavor for me and clearomizers (ce2) all cracked over time which caused me to loose a lot of liquid. Now i just stick with the e2 cartomizers (same thing as clearomizers but with a better body instead of thin plastic). They dont crack and leak and one will last me almost half a day ( if i even leave it on that long; I change flavors a lot through out the day). I use those while I am out and about and then I use a lr510 atty while I am at home.
