  1. Atlas Shrugged was also pretty darn close to the mark, too. Heard an old interview someone did with her back in the '50's some years ago and will never forget listening to her say that what happened in Russia can happen anywhere - even in the United States. Just takes the right set of circumstances. Too much stuff happening all over the place these days. Glad to see things carried on pretty well as normal below the line this week. We live in some interesting times ...
  2. Hi Matthew - sorry to hear that you're having the same problems but must say a bit of a relief to know I'm not the only one. As Chris mentioned, I thought maybe I had a bad atty but unlikely that it is all three of them! I've tried the straw method, felt and the latest rage with cart filler that seems to have everyone excited - the Lipton Pyramid teabag - and none of them makes any difference. Still only a few good vapes before needing to be topped up. Like you said, the good ones are great, though. Had a long road trip planned last week but, fortunately, it wasn't necessary as I had been wondering how I was going to safely manhandle my ecig all the way there and back. Anyway, just a matter of accepting it the way it is and living with it, I guess. Good luck to you and if you run into anything that suddenly makes the difference, please let us know!
  3. Okay - must be spending too much time obsessing over this! Dreamt last night that I turned two of my atomizers upside down to drain and all the internal parts fell out! Of course, maybe that's because I got so frustrated yesterday that I pulled all the rest of the threads out of the atomizer that I first accidentally pulled three out of at the beginning. Figured it couldn't be much worse (re the burning taste) and I had two more atomizers so why not? To this point, I haven't noticed any difference in performance (although may have shortened the atty life?) but ... well ... that really bad burning taste seems to be gone. Now I just get the usual 'dry' atomizer taste when it's time to re-drip. However, I'll still leave the other two atomizers alone ... for now anyway. I'm going to use this one exclusively and see if it totally bites the dust in the next week or so. Will keep you posted. Another thing I just realized (after reading another thread about the nice 'warm' inhale) ... oddly enough, the first few vapes I made when I first got my kit, I could feel a very noticeable difference in the vapor. Yes, it was nice and warm - certainly enough for me to think 'wow! This is nice!' But since then ... it's not different from any other ecig I've had with regards to temperature. Are you guys still experiencing that warm vapor thing? I know it's reaching but really have to wonder if I got a bad kit or something ... surely this can't be ALL 'operator stupidity' ... can it? In the meantime, I've got some more penstyle goodies coming.
  4. Well I got to thinking about atomizers ... particularly the odd time a bad batch comes out? I've been getting that taste on both atomizers that came with the kit. Doesn't seem to make any difference if it's the one with the pulled threads or not. So ... as I had ordered an extra one I decided to give that one a try and see. Funny enough, this was the only atomizer with any primer taste on it at all. The ones with the kit were virtually primer free. Don't know if that says anything or not. Anyway, just started trying out the other one and will see what happens. So far I THINK it is better - slightly longer between drips kind of thing but that could just be my mind playing tricks on me. Anyway, will keep plugging along here. Of course, being the only ecig I have at the present kind of eliminates any choice ... and it's not like things are horrible. Just a tad frustrating is all.
  5. I didn't mean that I don't get enough huge vapor - with this thing, that doesn't appear to be the problem at all. It's just that if I take more than about 2 good size vapes (3 -4 seconds each), I'm getting that burnt taste already. OR ... is this just normal?
  6. Well, I'm still working with this ecig and back to dripping again. As I cannot seem to get more than about 6 or 7 good vapes with a cart no matter what material I fill it with (and believe me, over the past few days I think I've tried every damn thing out there), I'm just frustrated beyond words with the bloody things. However I don't seem to get as much vape out of my 'three drops' as I see you guys do in your reviews. Think I've figured out that maybe it is the size of the dropper that comes with those 10 ml amber glass bottles that I use for convenience sake. So will try experimenting with that a bit (four drops, five drops, etc) and see if I can't bump up production a bit. I have to admit that there is no comparison for juice flavor when dripping. If I can get a little more time out of it between ripping the cart off to drip again, I will probably land up being an exclusive dripper for this model. Took you a long time to get me here, Chris but finally, eh? Guess I'll just have to get myself another pen for driving though. Dripping and driving ranks right up there with drinking and driving!
  7. ... okay ... going to try a couple more 'tips' with this baby before giving up on it ... believe me, the problem is not the ecig, it's the operator! Just kind of missing the good old, no-fuss, no-muss, throw-a-cart-in-and-good-for-practically-the-whole-day penstyle. But if anyone is seriously looking for a good deal on a slightly used 510 (3 batteries, 3 atomizers - one with a few threads pulled out but still seems to be working so don't know yet what damage that did to it - usual charger stuff and one blue PCC), let me know.
  8. Well gentlemen ... I have only one response to this one and it is rather nicely summed up by the following video. Providing, of course, that I inserted this link properly!
  9. Actually I thought that was pretty damn funny! Well, after a few more days with this 510, have to say that it appears I'll need to have a supply of ... ohh ... 100 mls of juice a month or so! Holy crap - not kidding it is a juice hog! Have a long trip ahead of me today and sure wishing I had a penstyle with me instead! The 510 is an awesome e-cig. I don't think anyone who has one can argue that. But ... still partial to the pen for longevity of cart life. Figure I'd better top off a dozen or so carts and take my juice for topping for a 7 hr road trip! Thank God for the PCC.
  10. Oh I totally agree - the more 'mainstream' these become, the better for all of us. Big box may become our best friend before this is over.
  11. Darn ... just checked Costco Canada and no Njoy goodies there ... sure makes you wonder, though ... how are they getting away with it? Good news nevertheless. Didn't check to see if they were selling carts with nic or if they were no nic, though.
  12. Yeah - I'm pretty freaking sure they're supposed to be there too! Should be a warning somewhere - 'if you see threads sticking out around the atomizer, do NOT assume they are fibers from carts! Leave them alone!!' On the other hand, still seems to be working okay. For now anyway. I'll let you know if it dies on me real soon, though. Good thing I have two spares ...
  13. I was peering down the barrel of my 510 atomizer tonight and noticed what I thought were some strands sticking to it from a cart. So ... stuck the tweezers down there to pull them off and ... holy crap. Pulled out about three of these long strands that definitely were not cart fiber. Anyone know what those are? Guess it was only the fuzzy ends of them sticking out from under the bridge because they were pretty substantial threads. Who knew there were even threads lurking down there underneath the bridge. Hmm ... sounds like something from the Three Billy Goats Gruff ...
  14. Hmm .. that's interesting that you said that you got a little sleepy on the 36 mg. Started vaping the 510 yesterday morning and by the afternoon, I was totally and completely wiped out. Fell asleep on the chair on the porch and just dragged my butt the rest of the day. Never thought it could be the nic level but ... makes sense ... definitely have to lower that dosage! Referencing your other post, will be interesting to read how you compare the manual 901 and 801 to the 510.
  15. God, Chris, you make me laugh!! Forgot to mention in that post that yes, can you believe it? I was actually DRIPPING yesterday!! Happened about the same time I had my epiphany about the carts. And, okay ... couldn't help but imagine you sitting across the table from me, rolling your eyes, gritting your teeth and growling ... 'for the love of God, woman, just drip the damn thing!' Here are my thoughts about dripping. Yes, the flavor does really come out with dripping. Wow ... nice. Lots of vapor but didn't notice on this 510 that it was any more or less than with the carts - this thing produces awesome vapor either way. Yes, no worries about getting little cart fibers stuck to the atomizer with the inevitable 'yuck' factor. However ... guess it will just take me awhile to get used to fiddling with the thing after every half dozen vapes or so. Does that sound about right for 3 drops? About 6 vapes before you need to drip again? Keep in mind that I don't take nearly as long of a draw on this as you guys do. How in the hell do you do that anyway? Holy cow. After a mere 3 seconds or so, I just can't take it anymore. This thing really produces the throat hit and such a nice draw to it. Man, I'm loving this 510 Knowing that even I cannot screw up the manual batteries by dripping is also a relief. Also have found that I'm going to have to reduce the mg of my juice! Ordered the flue-cured and Ruyan #4 both in 24 mg because in the M401 and even the penstyle, found that 24 mg was just barely giving me the 'buzz' that I wanted. Not with this one! In fact, I'm finding that I cannot vape as much as I would like with it right now or I get that woozy, sicky feeling which, I know, is a sign of too much nic. There's a fellow up here who sells 0 nic juice in the same flavors. Think I'll order a couple of bottles and cut this stuff down by half. Would just go and get some VG at the health store but worry that it would 'water down' the flavor too much. Any thoughts on this? I love the flavors of both ejuices and would really like to vape more during the day just for the flavor! To give you some idea, I put my first fully charged battery on about 8:30 am yesterday. Didn't have to change it out until about 5 pm!! So you know how much vaping I got done. On the other hand, only had one analog throughout that whole time period which was amazing to me. Didn't even feel a craving for one. I think this may be the ecig that finally gets me off those damn things once and for all! Once I can vape as often as I would like, it will be freaking wonderful. Just a note on the PCC. When I switched batteries, I put the old one in the PCC for the first time. Light turned red, threw it in my purse and we took off to the beach for a 'picnic supper' and to try to cool down a bit (been screaming hot here and just don't do heat well). Got home and checked the PCC to see how it was doing as it was well over an hour by that time. No green light showing that the battery was charged up. Hmm ... popped the top off, pushed the battery down a bit, blue light flashed then went out, flipped the top of the PCC down again and ... no light showing. So, of course I'm thinking ... okay, ya broke it (am I just a bit paranoid about mechanical things?? Ya think!). Screwed the battery into the wall charger to charge it up and ... son of a gun, no red light. Went straight to green. Even to my mechanically challenged mind, this told me that the battery was, indeed, fully charged. So went and dug up the little instruction cardboard that comes with the PCC and, low and behold, the thing does NOT turn green to show you the battery is charged. The red light simply goes out. Another feeling stupid moment for the day. It obviously works as it is supposed to. Did I mention that the one I got has a groove on the side so that the manual battery slides in without any problems in case anyone is wondering about that as, I believe, the first PCC's that came out did not have this. What can I say? You guys were bang on with your review. With this one, I have now lost my craving for the pen. Think I'll order a pack of those whistle tip carts though. They just feel more comfortable in the mouth somehow. Now I just need to get to the point where popping off the cart and dripping is just part of the performance and not just a teeny pain in the patootee that is still is at the moment. Well ... time to drip again (yep this is going to take some getting used to) and get on with my day. Oh, as far as the felt cart goes. Easy as pie to do. Great vapor. No funny taste - just the ejuice coming through. I will probably use this method for those times when I'm out in public and want to be a tad more inconspicuous than constantly dripping. Although, as has been mentioned, this thing consumes juice, so even the carts need to be topped off more than I am used to. Small price to pay, though, for such a great ecig!
