    Hello Everyone,

Its been quite a while since I've been on these Forums, maybe almost a whole year. I can't remember why I stopped posting, but I still remember all of you- well, the old timers anyhow.

I still vape, all day, everyday. I still have my old Mods, some broken, some still working. I guess you could say I stopped posting because my exploration phase of using e-cigs ended, and I've just sort of settled in on what I like.

I still keep up on the industry firsts when I can. I still watch YouTube videos when I catch wind of something new. I still convert friends and acquaintances to vaping--I'm still one of you! I just haven't been active on the Forums anymore.

I suppose it was when I realized that I had been vaping for two years now, I started to feel nostalgic. I found my old 510 starter kit and used it for a while. I was a very quick trip down memory lane, but I brought out my old Mods and charged up the batts and used them for a bout a day each, then went back to my Icon.

Then I thought of all of you. I remember all the fun I had posting when we were all discovering the vaping culture and forming what it has become today. This is my greeting to all who remember the pioneer days; without the Drip Shields, Drip Tips, Tanks, big battery mods, and low resistance atomizers.

I've been out of the loop for so long, I no longer feel comfortable commenting on the new inventions. I'll still give advice, but it only comes from experience. I hope to come back here and be a part of your circle again.

    Cheers to all,

    Tektronik

I don't think there's a single smoker in america who is unaware of the dangers of smoking, self-righteous anti-smokers will jump at any opportunity to tell them. So will this inform anyone of something they weren't already aware of? probably not. would it have dissuaded me? no. This may be an unpopular opinion, but i think enough has been done to inform smokers of the health risks of smoking, smokers know it's bad, and have that voice in the back of their heads that quitting is probably a good idea, but quitting happens by choice, when the drive and desire to quit overpower the addiction, and no amount of fear-based mud-slinging or tax-hikes will fully eradicate smoking in its entirety.

But the true zealots of any cause never really stop after tunnel vision sets in. smoking at this point is wildly unpopular, broadly known to be extremely bad for your health, and ridiculously expensive. Friends telling friends about vaping will eventually do a hell of a lot more than outright oppression. I believe it's time for the anti-smoking zealots to slow it down a bit and let smokers quit on their own.

And hey, if you're an anti-smoker who has trouble letting people live their lives, maybe it's time to go after fast food, that will kill you way faster than smoking could ever hope to.

    Jon

I went out for dinner tonight with a friend who smokes. Even though I had my e-cig with me, I was curious and bummed a camel. God Awful is the only thing I can thing of. For me, smoking is not on pause, I will never touch those nasty things again. It tasted just like they did when I first started smoking and I can't believe I kept on doing it.

Most people like to live without having any regrets or anything they would do over but I will always kick myself for even starting that horrible habit.

I just want to make it clear to everyone that I'm all for regulation and improved safety of electronic cigarettes (of course) My worry is about a ban or handing over the technology to the same people that have been killing us for years.

Judging by the articles here it sounds like the FDA may be changing their stance on things, but the lawsuit isn't over and my products are still getting seized at the boarder. So while they may appear to only be going after suppliers making false health claims and adding ED drugs into their liquid that isn't the case. We don't make any health claims in our store, in fact we where one of the FIRST American suppliers to add warning labels, yet monthly our products are taken by the FDA. Last time I checked my hardware didn't contain any E Liquid.

    Let me see here....
this is how it will go down if the FDA has their way
first off the banning of E cigs....or at least ones that don't carry the FDA stamp of approval...that will cost the vendors oh who knows how much to get approval...several companies will fold.
Next they will go after the e-liquid producers....
we have to approve your manufacturing methods to make sure they meet our "strict" guidelines...
Many will go out of business because they DO fail their "tests" or they don't want to bother being watched over by big brother government.
So now we have a small handful of e cig manufacturers and a small handful of e liquid manufacturers.
e liquid from china will contain lead paint so it will be made illegal too.
NOW here it where it will get interesting.
RJ Reynolds and Phillip Morris will obtain patents on the e-cigs by paying the struggling businesses the right to get these patents and manufacture the e cigs.
Next the same two tobacco giants will enlist the aid of some of the biggest pharmaceutical companies to work with them to create a pharmaceutical grade liquid nicotine that can only be obtained at your local pharmacy and the nicotine in them is provided by....you guessed it....the two tobacco giants.
the FDA wins, the tobacco companies win, the pharmaceutical companies win.
    and we lose

Unfortunately some people do need more than one surgery. back problems are difficult to treat at best. but you figure, you wouldn't be looking at this path if it wasn't already that bad !!
by being diligent with you back precautions you can slow the chances of needing more surgery. BLT--Bending, Lifting, Twisting. Low impact exercise--swimming, walking helps too.
Compliance with therapy and recovery is one of the main reasons spine surgeries fail or need to be repeated. Learn as much as you can about the recovery and tricks you can use (avoid the horror stories like the plague).

as far as the nicotine goes--I know all of our spine surgeons are adamant about no nicotine to help with recovery. As a nurse I can actually support this. The pathophysiology of bones supports this. the circulation to the bones is very, very sensitive--the bones don't use a lot of blood, so what blood they do get is very important.
Blaming every disease or problem on smoking or nicotine pisses me off--but occasionally, it may not be the cause, but it certainly doesn't help.

I haven't tried lower my nic yet--but I do find that using a bit of menthol in my flavors adds to the throat hit--this may help with lower the nic. FT Joe and Nana both use 0 nic and may be able to help with this.
    YOU CAN DO THIS !!!!!!

We aint gonna ban ya or hate ya. It's just that I've seen this all too often. I'm a member of this forum and 4 Radio Control forums, have been for YEARS. It never fails that someone, usually a person new to the scene comes in and asks a question in hopes that someone would be nice enough to answer it quickly and in terms that they can understand. But instead some member of the forum, does not stop to think,"Hey this person has never been here before and does not know much about the subject." and just blabbers "Just go do a search for it, it's in there somewhere." A lot of times that newbie is never heard from again. Just be a little more thoughtful before you type an answer. If you don't have a good response to a question just don't reply. When someone new comes in I like to treat them the way I'd treat my son if he wanted to learn how to do something. Take them by the hand if you will. It really wasn't your post that angered me, it was the attitude you got when the other member tried to give you the hint that we just don't do that here. That's what made me step up and give ya the cyber slap. So there ya go. You got spanked, I hope you learned from it. No hard feelings here. Now lets go vape and have a beer!!!

I think it is as affordable as ever, $90 for an entire kit, including batteries.

VT store has them on sale for 62, with discount.
Vaprlife will upgrade it for $28.00. If you have VT Store ship it directly to Vaprlife, you can have the entire kit for $90.

Not sure how many Chris has left but I guess it in <5, I ordered another one because it was too good to pass up.

The DVM also works terrific, I have one as well (be sure to tell them you have a 510 version) it is a good investment for <$20, if you do not have a multimeter to read the voltage.

    Excellent unit.

I just got the Joker back after the AV upgrade. I ran the same test, and here are the results. I adjusted the voltage to 5.08v, and with the 3.3ohm resistor load it measured 4.98V. That is exactly the same regulator performance as the buzz, in a package that is thinner, lighter weight, and better looking than the Buzz.

Don't get me wrong, I really do like the Buzz just fine, but as Burn said "the Buzz is my back up".

For anyone who might be wondering about the VP/PT, Connected to the AC supply the output is 5.46v, and loaded with the 3.3ohm resistor it is 4.80v. Connected to the USB port on my computer it is 5.08v, and loaded it is 4.28v. This was a surprising result.

I don't think you said anything wrong. Just misinformed. Most vendors have a warning for their lo-res products stating that they are not recommended for anything under 450mah. So although it worked for you it was just not the best for the smaller battery.
Also.. I too think it's not the way of the forum to just send newbies off to another site to get an answer that they asked here. If we all did that there would be no reason for us to have a forum. We could all just head over to Youtube and merrily search around until we found the answer we need. One of the best parts about VaporTalk is it's helping family. When we get to the point where we no longer help each other out as best as WE can first, before sending people other places, that's when I no longer will be on the forum. It's the people here who helped me to get to the point I'm at now and I thank each and everyone of them.

I personally use a LR atomizer on a Joye Tech 510 when I'm sittin in front of the computer.
The LR atomizer gives me personally a better vapor than a standard atty.
All a low resistance (Ohms) Atty is doing is in theory allowing the battery to use more of it volts. (by creating less resistance)
With a regular atty you would have to increase the batteries voltage (3.7v-7.4v) to get about the same result.
But when I increase the volts i seem to get that burnt taste sometimes or a serious throat hit. (which some people are looking for)
You really need to experiment on which combination of batteries & atomizers or cartomizers work best for you.
Each person is different & will have different expectations.
This is way the E-cig world is full of different products.
The only way you can go wrong is if you purchase a cheaply made product.

First. I don't claim to be a battery expert but using LR (low resistance) atomisers/cartomisers comes with a price to your batteries and I don't mean just what you paid for them. Your standard 510 recharable battery comes with I believe a said 200 times rechargable rating which means if you recharge it 2 or 3 times a day it is only gonna last say 3 months at best but using LR atomisers/cartomisers stresses the batteries in the respect that they may not be able to be recharged as many times ( which you can't "see" this damage that you've done to the battery) , now your standard battery may only last a few weeks, same goes for the ego batteries at $20-$25 a/piece. Of course, this is the best case scenario that only just costs you more money for more batteries more often, when you stress a battery there may be other consequences other than just the money aspect of it. Justs my 2 cents.

People new to vaping want fast answers not sift through a bunch of videos! That why we are here on this forum! We answer their basic questions not send them on a wild goose hunt. We try to explain this to everyone in terms they can understand. This is exactly what turns people off to so many forums! People telling them to go search for anything! If you want them to see something SEND THEM A LINK TO IT! Don't make them look blindly for it. Remember, these people are new and may not understand the lingo or know how to do a specific search. Everyone is not computer savy and to take the route of telling them to go look for something IS NOT the way we do things here at Vapor Talk. We are here to help new members as much as we can, but telling them to go looking for something they may not truly understand in the first place is just wrong.
