But most of the people who chose to speak out on the matter maintain that electronic cigarettes help people quit smoking, and that there are no health issues or second-hand smoke impact.

"It makes a visible vapor that you can see, but it disappears," explains Spike Babaian, the President of the National Vapers Club. "It doesn't linger like smoke. It doesn't float like smoke. It doesn't make smoke when you're not using it. It doesn't make smoke ever. It makes vapor. It makes steam."

Valerie Schwaber, an EMT from Lexington said "My asthma has completely cleared up since I stopped smoking, and started using this."

"I smoked a pack and a half a day for many years," said John Paradiso of Northampton, "and after starting to use personal vaporizers, I literally just stopped smoking. And it's been 14 or 15 months since I had a cigarette."

The Northampton Board of Health did not make any decisions about adding e-cigarettes to their Tobacco Regulations.

This hearing was only for public input.

30 things you didn't know about your cigarette http://www.vaportalk.com/Home/index.php/vapor-talk/interesting-info/101-cigarette-facts http://www.vaportalk.com/Home/index.php/vapor-talk/interesting-info/101-cigarette-facts

30 Facts

1. Cigarettes are the single-most traded item on the planet, with approximately 1 trillion being sold from country to country each year. At a global take of more than $400 billion, it’s one of the world’s largest industries.

2. The nicotine content in several major brands is reportedly on the rise. Harvard University and the Massachusetts Health Department revealed that between 1997 and 2005 the amount of nicotine in Camel, Newport, and Doral cigarettes may have increased by as much as 11 percent.

3. In 1970, President Nixon signed the law that placed warning labels on cigarettes and banned television advertisements for cigarettes. The last date that cigarette ads were permitted on TV was extended by a day, from December 31, 1970 to January 1, 1971 to allow the television networks one last cash windfall from cigarette advertising in the New Year’s Day football games.

4. U.S. cigarette manufacturers now make more money selling cigarettes to countries around the globe than they do selling to Americans.

5. The American brands Marlboro, Kool, Camel and Kent own roughly 70% of the global cigarette market.

6. Cigarettes contain arsenic, formaldehyde, lead, hydrogen cyanide, nitrogen oxide, carbon monoxide, ammonia and 43 known carcinogens.

7. In the early 1950s, the Kent brand of cigarettes used crocidolite asbestos as part of the filter, a known active carcinogen.

Watch out for fake electronic cigarettes! http://www.vaportalk.com/Home/index.php/vapor-talk/interesting-info/100-fake-electronic-cigarettes http://www.vaportalk.com/Home/index.php/vapor-talk/interesting-info/100-fake-electronic-cigarettes Selling fake parts and starter kits = not cool - One of the most popular electronic cigarette brands is Joye Tech. The models created by this company are sturdy, long lasting and reliable. They have become so popular it's no a surprise to see that a string of knock off products flood the market.

While some of the knock off models actually work ok, suppliers should not sell you a product under false or tricky methods. If you went to a dealership to purchase a BMW and where instead given a Ford with a BMW body, would you not feel ripped off? I know we sure would! Even if the car worked well, you didn't ask for a Ford you wanted a BMW. It's time to put the power back in your hands. Remember the old saying if the price seems to good to be true, it probably is.

Sit back, here's what you need to know... (seriously we have some cool pics to show you)

Everything you ever wanted to know about electronic cigarettes. Sit down, relax and read on!

  • So just what is an electronic cigarette?

An electronic cigarette, also known as an e-cigarette or personal vaporizer, is a battery-powered device that provides inhaled doses of nicotine by way of a vaporized solution. It is an alternative to smoked tobacco products, such as cigarettes, cigars, or pipes.

Who should use an electronic cigarette?

Persons over the age of 18 who currently smoke cigarettes and are looking for an alternative to tobacco may wish to use electronic cigarette.

  • Are  electronic cigarettes safe?

While early studies have shown electronic cigarettes to be a better alternative to cigarettes there is still much research to be done. We talk a little more about this: Here

  • What's in the liquid used to deliver nicotine?

Nicotine solutions sold separately for use in refillable cartridges are sometimes referred to as "e-liquid" or "e-juice", and commonly contain some amount of flavoring, with several different flavors available. They consist of nicotine dissolved in propylene glycol (PG) and/or glycerin (glycerol). Both PG and glycerin are common food additives.

Solutions are also available in differing nicotine concentrations, to let the user decide the amount of nicotine to be taken in. Concentrations range from Zero Nicotine, low and midrange doses (6–8 mg/ml and 10–14 mg/ml respectively), to high and extra-high doses (16–18 mg/ml and 20–54 mg/ml respectively). The concentration ratings are often printed on the e-liquid bottle or cartridge, although the standard notation "mg/ml" often gets abbreviated to just "mg". Solutions are also available that contain no nicotine at all.

Some flavor varieties attempt to resemble traditional cigarette types, such as regular tobacco and menthol, and some even attempt to mimic specific cigarette brands, such as Marlboro or Camel. Fruit and other flavors are also available, such as vanilla, caramel, and coffee.

Electronics 101, and how it applies to Ecigs. http://www.vaportalk.com/Home/index.php/vapor-talk/interesting-info/87-electronics-101-and-how-it-applies-to-ecigs http://www.vaportalk.com/Home/index.php/vapor-talk/interesting-info/87-electronics-101-and-how-it-applies-to-ecigs Some electronics and how it applies to your electronic cigarette with Miatafrank.

Current flow (measured in amps) is the movement of electrons through a conductor. These electrons are sent out by the power source (volts) to act as the workers, and resistance (measured in ohms) is in the path of current flow and will slow the electrons (workers) down. Power (measured in watts) is the measurement of work being performed in the circuit, and will always manifest itself in the form of heat (doesn't that sound like heating up an atomizer to you?). Of course too much heat (power/watts) will pop the atty.

Now for the math, and I promise it's not that complicated:

A physicist by the name of George Simon Ohm discovered that there is a tight relationship between voltage, current, and resistance. This relationship can be described and predicted by mathematics, which has become known as "Ohm's Law". The basic statement of this relationship is that voltage and current are directly proportional (when we increase voltage, current will increase as well), and that current and resistance are inversely proportional (when we increase resistance, current will decrease).

Nicotine in E Liquid vs Cigarette http://www.vaportalk.com/Home/index.php/vapor-talk/interesting-info/86-nicotine-in-e-liquid-vs-cigarette http://www.vaportalk.com/Home/index.php/vapor-talk/interesting-info/86-nicotine-in-e-liquid-vs-cigarette A member brought up a great question today. The question was:

"Hi....Have a Noob question I can only find half the answer too. I was surf'n the net wondering how much nicotine was in an analog, and how much I was taking in daily. The answer was 1mg for ever analog I smoked.(thinks that right) I was a 2 1/2 pack a day chimney, about 45 analogs, so my intake was 45 MG of nicotine a day. Sounds right? So.. that got me thinking...just how much nicotine im I taking in with vaping 24mg strength e-liquid?? Im into vaping about 10 days now, and have vaped about a 5ml bottle so far. Anyone know of a good post or site that will educate me on this?? Or...if you know the answer..Im all ears thanks"

Great question! You get about 1 mg of nicotine per cigarette usually. But of course this depends on the cigarette on how much you smoke.

So how much nicotine is inside of an E Liquid bottle?
